I’ll admit, Sir, that was not what I thought you were going to ask.

Sir

Oh? And what did you think I was going to ask?

I debate exposing my thoughts or keeping them to myself. But our relationship is about honesty.

Me

Something fun.

Sir

Being financially responsible is fun.

I snort as I type out:

Me

Says who?

Sir

Your Dom, smarty-pants. Did your lesson the other night teach you nothing about what your smart mouth gets you?

I shift in my chair, feeling a little bit of that float return to my body.

Me

Maybe I need a reminder.

My phone rings, and I know it’s him without looking at the screen. My heart flutters as I answer. “Hi,” I say.

“If you were being serious, tell me you consent to a scene right now.”

My heart thuds against my chest. “You know my answer is yes.”

We may not have been playing together long, and the sexual part of our relationship is new, but I think I’ll always say yes to Dane. He’s proven more than once that I can trust him. He’s always checking in and making sure I’m good.

There’s a reason I said yes to that scene with him over the computer, even before a new agreement was in place between us.

When we revised the contract together, he brought that fact up and apologized for moving forward without an official agreement, even though he got my consent beforehand. I told him I didn’t regret it and felt good about it, which says a lot about how I feel about him, given my past.

“Is there anyone in the break room with you?”

Heat rises in my body, and I shake my head. “No, I’m alone.”

“I put something special in your locker for you.”

“What?” I ask, blinking. “When?”

“Do you want to ask me that, or do you want to find out what it is? Time is ticking.”

Instead of answering, I stand up and go to my locker, double-checking I’m still alone. There are no locks on our lockers. This town is so small, and we all trust each other. I’m never worried about anyone stealing something, so it’s never bothered me.

When I open mine, I don’t see anything at first. But then I notice a bag behind an extra pair of scrubs I have inside.
