She cut me off. “If you would have taken the time to find a condom, I probably would have lost my mind. It was hot, and very heat of the moment, so stop apologizing. I knew what was happening, and I was all for it.”
“Good, because you’re right, it was fucking hot.”
I felt the corner of my mouth hitch when I spread her pussy lips apart to examine my handiwork one more time before getting a towel to clean up with.
My pussy.
Chapter Twenty-Seven
Kristy
A feeling of contentment came over me as I nestled against Justin’s chest.
Maybe it was because I’d slept a total of one hour the night before.
Maybe it was the orgasm.
Or maybe it was how safe I felt when he held me.
Whatever it was, I quickly fell into a deep, dreamless slumber.
I slept so hard that I was disoriented when I woke up. It took a second for me to get my bearings about where I was and how I’d gotten there.
As usual, Justin’s side of the bed was empty. He kept his bedroom dark with blackout curtains, so I wasn’t sure what time of day it was. Was it one in the afternoon or one in the morning?
Either way, I needed to get home and feed Dora. Hopefully it was just the afternoon, and I hadn’t made my poor dog go all day without eating. Skipping breakfast was bad enough—but breakfast and dinner? That was grounds for the ASPCA to come take her from me.
I threw the covers off and turned on the lamp next to the bed so I could find my shorts, then remembered they were on the laundry room floor.
Except as I walked toward the door, I noticed they were neatly folded on the bench at the foot of his bed.
After sliding them on, I quickly made the bed. It was easy to do since he didn’t have any throw pillows. The extra three minutes it took wouldn’t make much of a difference to Dora, but it was a big deal to me. Leaving his bed unmade would have bothered me all day.
Hopefully, Justin wouldn’t be offended that I had to leave.
Sorry to fuck and run, but I have to feed my dog.
My fingers were crossed that it also bought me some time from having to admit we were in a relationship.
Just saying the word “relationship” in my head made me feel itchy.
Lainey was right—I needed to find a therapist ASAP.
I opened the door and quietly made my way toward the kitchen in my bare feet. When I reached the threshold and heard his voice, I stopped.
Yeah, I was eavesdropping. Sue me.
“Do you want to go for a hike when your mom gets up? I bet you’d like that, huh? Maybe we could even take a picnic, but I’ll be sure that you have lots of treats, too.”
I heard the jingle of Dora’s dog tags and felt my insides go squishy.
He’d gone to get my dog while I’d slept.

Justin
There was a lilt in Kristy’s voice when she walked in the kitchen, looked down at Dora, and asked, “What’s going on? How did you get here, sweet girl?”
