I could buy my own flowers and my dog her toys.

But damn, did I like spending time with him. Even with our clothes on.

It’s only a problem if you let it become one, I reminded myself.

So, I wasn’t going to let it become one.

Chapter Seventeen

Justin

I didn’t miss how the valet checked Kristy out when she exited the car at the restaurant.

Or how pretty much every other red-blooded man and woman did the same when the hostess showed us to our table.

There might have been some swagger in my step while I walked beside her. Like I was conveying to everyone who stopped and stared, “Yeah, that’s right. This gorgeous woman is with me. Eat your hearts out, suckas.”

After we got situated with our napkins in our laps, she looked at me with a quizzical brow. “What are you smiling about?”

“How much my street cred just skyrocketed, walking in with you on my arm. You have no idea how stunning you look in that dress.”

She shyly looked down at the garment and quipped, “Oh, this old thing? I only wore it because I was hoping you’d rip it off me, later.”

My cock jumped at the suggestion.

“Don’t tease me, baby, because I will in a heartbeat.”

That made her laugh. “Okay, yeah, don’t do that. It’s actually brand new. But I haven’t stopped thinking about that night when you did rip my tank top off me.”

“Me neither.”

“And I may have bought some t-shirts at the thrift store, just in case you want to do that again.”

I chuckled at her admission while my dick continued to rise.

“Baby, I would love to do it again. You’ll have to show me what you bought. That way I’ll know what I can ruin.”

“I can do that.”

She bit her bottom lip when she smiled, and I wanted to pull her into my lap and bite it, too.

I shook my head and opened the leather-bound menu. “You have no idea what you do to me.”

“You’ll have to show me.”

I didn’t look up from perusing the selections when I murmured, “Little girl, you’re playing with fire.”

“I know. I brought the matches.”

This woman. There wasn’t a thing I didn’t like about her.

Other than I couldn’t have her.

Chapter Eighteen

Justin

It was almost noon when I left the ER on the Friday of the Founders’ Day weekend. I’d worked four hours longer than I was scheduled and was grateful to be off until Sunday.
