“Ope.” Our guide ambles their way back to us, eyeing me up and down. “Yeh found one of the bog holes, told you to watch out for ‘em!” Then they cheerfully turn and head back to the front while I glare at their retreating back.
“Helpful,” I grumble, glaring back at my own foot. I attempt to pull it out, but I can feel my sock slipping from my shoe under the silty water. “Ah, mierda,” I say, and then a muffled giggle makes me freeze.
I slowly look up, and my eyes meet Siobhan’s bright blue ones. Her hands are covering her mouth, but I can tell from the sparkle in her eyes that she’s laughing on the inside. And then her shoulders shake, and my lips twitch in response. She sees it, and that’s that.
She drops her hands and laughs, the sound bouncing through the trees around us. Jayce looks down at her in surprise, and then his low, amused chuckle underscores her exuberant laughter.
“Do you need help?” she says, taking a step forward and holding her free hand out.
Jayce reacts at the same time I do. I shoot out my hand to stop her while he tugs her backwards, away from the treacherous, invisible bog holes. The last thing we need is for her to sprain an ankle when she’s barely got the splint off her wrist.
“They’re fine, pretty omega,” Jayce answers for me, taking the opportunity to tuck her securely under his arm. I glare at him, and he grins back, the smug bastard.
I sigh, resigned to my fate. And then I stick my hand into the cold water, grab the loop on the back of my shoe, and tug my foot and shoe out together. It releases with a squelch, and I grimace when I step away. My foot is soaked, and each step squishes, my wet foot sliding around inside the shoe.
“At least we’re almost back,” I say, and Siobhan pinches her lips together, apparently still trying not to laugh. “Let’s go.”
I take one step, and the squishing squelch has Siobhan cackling all over again. At that point, I can’t help it, and huff, then laugh along with her. It’s ridiculous how cartoonish every step sounds, but it’s made for a memorable second date. I’m just glad it was me, and not her, who stepped in that filthy bog water.
Chapter Twenty-Three
Jayce
The car ride home is tense. Siobhan’s scent still clings to our clothing, mine especially, and my cock jerks at the reminder of how perfectly her body molded to mine when I had my arm around her. This date definitely went better than the first one.
I glance at Hayden. They have one hand on the top of the steering wheel, arm flexed with tension, and the other is propped on the center console between us. I lick my lips as I take in their confident form, my eyes roaming down a fitted tee to where it bunches at their hips. They shift in their seat, and their boot squelches again.
I snort and pinch my lips together, attempting to hold in a laugh while I turn my attention to the window. Which means I don’t see it coming when Hayden hits the brakes and yanks the car to the side of the road, then throws it into park. My head slams back against the headrest, and I turn to them with a curse on the tip of my tongue.
“You got something to say, Jay?” They twist to face me.
The threat in their dark eyes has me swallowing my retort. I shake my head and my heart rate kicks up, all blood rushing south.
“You sure? Because I can put that mouth to good use if you need me to.”
I swallow hard and my gaze drops down their body. Night is falling now, the road dark and empty around us. I have a choice to make… Open my mouth, or keep it closed.
I shrug. “Was just thinking about how you almost fell on your ass in front of—”
Hayden growls, and their hand shoots out to wrap around my throat, pushing me into the seat. They lean over, invading my space, and I suck in a breath of their underlying rosemary scent. It’s a fresh kick that heightens the spicy notes of Siobhan’s chai, which still hovers in the air around us.
“Get out of the fucking car,” Hayden growls.
They disappear on a whirl of Palo Santo and rosemary, their scent strengthening in anticipation and lust. Mine swirls up to match it, bonfire smoke creating a heady backdrop to the combined scents of Siobhan and Hayden. My cock is so hard it feels like a steel rod in my pants, rubbing painfully against the confines of my jeans. I fling the door open and step out, barely getting it closed before Hayden throws me back against it.
They attack my lips, biting and licking, and I moan into their mouth.
“Pants off,” they say between kisses, devouring my mouth and then moving down my neck. I shiver beneath their demanding touch, and fumble with their zipper. Losing patience, they growl again, low in the back of their throat, muttering curses in Spanish as they rip my pants down my legs, then do the same with their own. They spin me around to face the car and pull my hips out so I’m forced to bend over with my hands against the roof.
“How much prep do you need, mi amor?” Their breath is hot against my ass, and my hole clenches in anticipation.
“Not much.”
We’ve been fucking like rabbits lately. Our sex life was good before, but to say we’ve been more active since Hayden met Siobhan would be a vast understatement.
“Good.”
Hayden must have snagged the small bottle of lube from the console without me noticing at some point, because it drizzles down my crack—a cold slide that makes my skin jump until their warm fingers start working it into me.
