Donovan rolled his eyes. “I’m trying to make sense of the family tree.”

“He is the youngest,” Toren confirmed.

“Well.” A smile tugged at the corner of Donovan’s mouth. “At least I’m not. Not anymore.”

“At least there’s that,” he agreed.

A few more minutes passed and Donovan groaned, pushing himself to stand. He smoothed out his clothes and went back into the kitchen. Returning seconds later and shoving the papers back into the white envelope, Donovan sat down on the couch to put his shoes on. Toren made room, standing himself the next time Donovan rose to his feet.

“You can stay longer if you want.”

“I love you for that, but I want to go home.”

Toren understood that and gave his best friend a hug before walking him to the front door and closing it behind him. He locked the door and dropped his head against the wood with a sigh. He waited awhile then called Andrew, propping the phone between his ear and shoulder while he went outside for a smoke. As expected, Andrew answered before Toren could even get his lighter out of his pocket.

“Is he okay?” Andrew asked, voice hushed. “Are you okay?”

“Why wouldn’t I be okay?”

“This is just a lot.”

Toren sucked in some smoke and blew it out in circles toward the clouds. “He wanted to talk about me and you to distract himself, but then he realized asking about you was asking about his brother and he hated that a little bit, I think. But I’m okay.”

“I won’t lie. It’s a lot, but…they’re good guys.”

“I know. And so are you.”

Andrew hummed his agreement. “Do you think that I can see you now?”

“If Donovan calls, I’ll need to take it, but I think we can make time for each other tonight.”

Another thoughtful sound from the other end of the phone. “This schedule thing is working out well.”

Toren wanted to disagree, but Andrew was right. Going back and forth between their places, even though it had only been for a few days, was working really well. They’d agreed weekdays would be play it by ear, and weekends would alternate, which meant they were only two sleeps out from spending the whole weekend at his place. Toren glanced inside over his shoulder at his apartment, knowing he needed to make time to clean it up. “Do you think so?’

“Don’t you?”

Toren’s laundry was already overflowing in the bedroom from being ignored when he was home and piled high when he returned from Andrew’s.

“I’ve been neglecting chores in favor of orgasms,” he said, and Andrew laughed.

“Do you want me to make you clean your apartment? We can play that way if you want.”

Toren scoffed. “I think if you do that, you’ll find exactly where the limit of how much I enjoy being told to do things goes.”

“What if I fuck you over the edge of the washing machine?” Andrew asked. “Or if I sit you up on the dryer and fuck you like that?”

Toren’s brain immediately offered him visuals of each and a half-erect cock to match.

“You’re not tall enough to fuck me on my dryer,” he said.

“I could get up there with you,” he proposed. “We could pick the lint out after.”

Toren closed his eyes, shoulders shaking with a laugh.

“Do your laundry, and I’ll see you after work,” Andrew told him.

Toren nodded his head. “Yeah,” he agreed. “Alright.”
