Jett, you’re going to die.
I know I am, and that’s the big problem because I can’t even fucking care anymore. I want to care. I have plenty of reasons to live. No matter how my mind screams at me to do better, my body wins the inevitable fight.
Sitting in my living room with my supplies on the coffee table, I prepare for my next hit when my phone rings.
Fucking Jagger.
I answer his call without bothering to hide my annoyance as I hold the needle in my other hand ready to inject relief into my vein.
“Yes, I’m flying out early as fuck. I will be there and so will your rings,” I say with a bite.
He chuckles softly on the other end.
“Good, man. I’m glad to hear it, but I need something else.”
He’s my best friend and I always have his back, but fuck, it seems lately he’s always asking me for something.
I place the call on speakerphone so my hands are free and I can continue shooting up like I was before he interrupted me. Piercing my flesh, I give myself what I need to prevent the sickness. If Jagger suspects what I’m doing, he won’t ask.
There was a time when he would have. For a long time, he fought with me and tried to get me to go to rehab. He does that a lot less now. Even he has given up on me.
“Jesus Christ. I’m starting to feel like your fucking employee. Whatever you need, ask Jake or Hendrix. I’m trying to fucking relax before I have to fly across the world.”
His fiance wants to get married in Italy, so of course we all have to make the fourteen-hour flight to be there.
“Alright then. I’ll ask one of them to help with Mia.”
My ears perk up at the mere mention of her name.
Mia fucking Montgomery.
Supermodel and the object of every goddamn fantasy I have ever had. The one woman I can’t have. The only one to turn me down.
“Mia?” I ask quietly.
Tossing the needle into my container, I rise from the sofa and pace back and forth.
“Yep. Something is going on with her, and she says she isn’t coming. McKinley’s heart is broken over it, and I need you to get her here. Whatever the fuck you have to do, do it. Unless, of course, you still want me to ask one of the other guys.”
He knows damn well I won’t have him ask one of our other bandmates.
“Yeah, you know, whatever you need, I’m there.”
He barks out an annoying laugh. “Oh, sure, it has nothing to do with her, right?”
Rolling my eyes at the phone as if he can see me, I admit the truth.
“I’ve wanted her for longer than you’ve even known McKinley. Since our first awards show.”
I remember the night I met her, and my fascination began.
“Who the fuck is that?” I ask Axl, the keyboard player for Asylum.
He chuckles as he answers.
“Mia Montgomery. She’s a model, but she won’t go for you, man. She doesn’t party and stays far away from the fun shit.”
She stands, talking to pop music's newest flavor, Sienna, while holding a glass of champagne. My gaze travels down her silver shimmery dress so tight it leaves little to the imagination. I’m already picturing fucking her, but when her gaze meets mine, I know I have to have her. It’s not a fucking want with those blue eyes on mine. It’s a need.
