I turn to him, and he flashes me a boyish grin.

“Ta-da!” He announces proudly.

I sit on the blanket and he joins me. Passing me a glass of wine, he winks at me and says, “Here you go, Angel.”

He has never called me that before. It’s confusing, the way it fills my chest with something I can’t even identify.

Taking a sip of the wine, I raise a brow, still unable to shake it off.

“I’m no angel, Jett.”

His gaze trails down my body slowly before moving back to my face with a sincere expression on his face.

“I think you are. Such a fucking beautiful angel. Like sunshine and sin in a beautiful but deadly combination no man can survive.”

He takes my wine and puts both of our glasses on the grass beside the blanket and we lie down and look at the sky filled with stars.

“Why wouldn’t you survive it?”

Turning his head, he smirks at me.

“You're the kind of woman if a man touches, it will kill him to ever let you go.”

“Angel? Are you still with me?”

I brush the hair out of my face and nod.

“Yes, I was just remembering that night.”

Taking my hand he pulls me to the gray sectional in the room and we sit down.

“Do you remember me asking you to call me?”

I sigh softly.

“I never called.”

He repeats my words.

“You never called.”

He flashes me a sad smile as he holds both of my hands in his.

“I was going to rehab and maybe I was a fool but I thought we had a connection. I wanted you to wait for me. Ditch the asshole who treated you like shit and wait for me.”

I didn’t know that, but I don’t know that it would’ve changed anything if I had. Even before I met Jett, I knew he was trouble. He has always partied hard, and had a different woman every night. Everything people say about the rock and roll lifestyle is true for Jett. He could be the poster child for bad decisions. I knew if I let him, he’d draw me into his web and trap me.

With his words.

His eyes.

I knew if I wasn’t careful, I’d want to be trapped.

Now I am.
