He’s in a deep conversation with one of the men from his firm when the redhead comes up to me. “How the hell did you get Matteo to marry you?” she asks, wrinkling her nose. She gives me a slow once-over. “Did you get knocked up or something?”
Jessica overhears that and laughs.
I’m in another room of vipers. Except now, instead of the club girls, it’s the lawyers and professional women who think I am not good enough for him. They all want him, that much is clear, but it hurts to think that some of them must have had him.
“Not that it’s any of your business, but no. Please excuse me.”
I head to the bathroom, needing a moment to collect myself. I’m leaning against the sink and taking a few deep breaths when a woman steps into the bathroom. She’s stunning. Older than me, with long auburn hair and warm hazel eyes.
“Are you okay?” she asks, frowning. “Don’t let those jealous bitches get to you.”
“You heard them?”
She nods, narrowing her eyes. “I did. They’ve all tried to get Suit, but he doesn’t usually sleep around outside the club, or so I’ve heard.”
My eyes widen, and she laughs, offering me her hand. “Faye Black. I belong to the Wind Dragons MC. I’m also one of the key speakers tonight.”
“You’re an old lady?” I ask, taking in her black power suit. The woman exudes confidence.
She grins, nodding. “Oh yeah. Ask your man about me. My reputation precedes me.”
“I want to be you when I grow up,” I murmur, and she laughs.
“Chin up. Don’t let anyone tell you that you aren’t worthy. Besides, the way that man was looking at you…” She whistles low. “If you need any backup, let me know.”
She heads into the cubicle, and I head back outside, only to bump right into Suit’s hard chest.
“There you are,” he murmurs, palms resting on my shoulders. “Are you okay?”
I nod and steel my spine. “I’m fine.”
My eyes roam over his biceps, straining against his dress shirt. No wonder they all want him. But too fucking bad, because he’s mine. On paper only. But still, that’s more claim than they have on him.
Faye comes out of the bathroom and winks at me as she passes. Suit’s eyes trace my face with a hint of curiosity. “If you want one woman on your side, she would be the one.”
“Who are the Wind Dragons MC?” I whisper.
His eyes flare. “They are allies of ours. They aren’t an MC anyone would want to fuck with, and Faye is their queen.”
We take our seats. Faye delivers her speech, and it’s incredible. Then she goes back to her table, sitting next to an extremely sexy man with black hair with a little bit of gray in it and crystal-blue eyes. The man looks at her like she’s everything and would kill anyone who so much as looked at her the wrong way.
It’s official.
I’m obsessed with her.
And she’s right about one thing.
I am worthy.
SUIT
“So what do you do?” Judge Atkens asks Elena. She’s been the perfect date all night, making conversation with my colleagues and being her charming self. This is the judge I’m hoping to get on my side. The Serpents of Chaos MC have people in their corner, and if we can get Judge Atkens, we’d be untouchable.
“I’m an accountant,” she replies. “I’ve taken a break recently, but I actually have my own business. I was doing some pro bono work for women leaving domestic violence situations, helping them sort out their finances.”
I had no idea that’s what she was doing. I didn’t even know she made her own money before this.
Atkens perks up. “You should reach out to my wife. She runs a homeless shelter for women. I’m sure she’d love to work with you.”
