“Glitch?”

I hear an inhale of breath and his voice cracks, “Liza?”

“Yeah, it’s me. Are you alone?”

“I’m in my room, yeah? But I should get your family, they have been worried about you.”

My heart starts beating fast, “NO! Please no, I just want to talk to you. But before I go into everything, is Vandal at the clubhouse?”

I hear clicking on a computer board and then “Yeah looks like he’s in the main room. Why? What is going on Liza? You’ve been gone for a year. No one has been able to get in touch with you.”

“I can explain everything, but can you meet me at this diner outside of town? It’s called Chasing Sunrise. But please, please don’t tell anyone you’ve heard from me or where you’re going.”

“I’ll be there in fifteen minutes. Are you safe?”

“I think so.”

The waitress brought me a burger, fries and water telling me I was safe to stay in the office until my friend got here. What felt like an hour later there was a knock on the door and when it opened there was Glitch. I stood up from the chair and ran into his arms. He’s always been like a big brother to me, despite what feels like a million big brothers I really do have.

“Fuck Liza! What’s going on? We’ve all been fucking worried. You need to come home. I know you didn’t want me to tell anybody anything, but your family is fucking worried.”

“I can’t come home, I’ll explain everything and I need you to promise me to won’t tell anyone, please.”

I don’t know what he saw in my face, but he agreed to what I had asked him. I know that if anyone could keep me safe and hidden it’s Glitch. So I go through the story of everything that has happened. From finding out my boyfriend Ridge was cheating on me and how I ran out of that restaurant crying when I found them together. How Vandal picked me up and knocked me unconscious brought me somewhere and everything that happened during my time there. Everything I heard when I was there that would affect the club. The more that spilled out of my mouth, the angrier he appeared. When I finally finished he looked like he was ready to murder anyone who got in his way.

“Liza, I have to tell them you know this. I can hide you, that is not a problem, but there are going to be people who need to know. We are going to have to do a deep dive into all this and look into how deep it goes and who all in the club is in on whatever he is into. I’m so sorry you went through all this.”

“I just want to get out of here. I don’t want him to find me or the people that he was working with. Once he figures out I’m gone, I’m going to be in more danger because I don’t think he knows what all I’ve heard.”

“Here’s what’s going to happen. I’m going to take you across the country. We have an allied club in Virginia. If anything happens to you or if you feel like you’re in danger it will be safe for you to go to them. I’m going to get you set up with a phone under my name, a house over there. We are going to enroll you in school. I’m going to transfer shit to an account that you will have access to. I will be primary and make you secondary, but a hidden secondary so no one will find your name associated with it. You are going to let me do all this for you. You are not going to object to anything. You will stay in contact with me. I will need to know you are okay. Then once we get you settled, I’m telling your family and the brothers at the club I trust. We will work from there. Once we get all this taken care of you will come home and you will not have to worry about anyone ever hurting you again.”

And that is how my life in Richmond, Virginia started. Far away from my former life. Far away from family. I thought everything would calm down, but two months after Glitch brought me there a little test told me I was going to be a mom. I decided then that even if they were conceived in a terrible way, I would never let that touch them. I lived for them and I wanted them to have a beautiful life. So that was what I set out to do.

Chapter One

Liza

Present Day

(The end of Whip’s Wisdom)

I forgot how tiring the end of pregnancy was, how sore you are. This time though I have two toddlers I’m wrangling as well as being pregnant with this one. I know doing it on my own has really been my choice, but when you open your heart and give your trust to yet another biker who throws it away and stomps all over it, you find it hard to want to let them help you with everything you’re going through.

Since I bumped into my biker baby daddy at the grocery store and my pregnancy was outed, he has been trying to get in touch with me. I haven’t had the energy or the emotional bandwidth to talk to him. I had planned on telling him I was pregnant more than one time. The first time when I found out I was pregnant I had planned on surprising him at his home. I made sure he was there, but when I went there he was with another woman. So much for his ‘I don’t bring women here’ bullshit. Then the shit he said to me, well fuck that. I don’t need that in my life.

After dealing with all that, I called up my therapist that I really hadn’t seen in awhile because I had not felt like I needed to. We talked about handling all this in my own timeframe. So I tried again, only to get some stupid bitch answering his phone and then him telling me that if I was too stupid to get the picture that he wanted nothing more to do with me that was my fault. Time and time again I tried, time and time again I felt like my heart was ripped out of my chest. I loved him. Hell, I still do, but I knew I should never have gone there with another biker. I know better. Bikers haven’t done me much good in the romance department.

I had the day off work today, so I’ve been spending the day with the boys. They have been heartbroken since everything went on with Cane, but they had slowly stopped asking for him. Until we bumped into him at the grocery store. I will never forget that moment and I think I wanted the world to swallow me whole at that point.

Waylon and Walker were running down the cereal aisle looking for the best sugary goodness they wanted for their special breakfast. They were fighting over which one they wanted to buy and how their Uncle Glitch always told them that the chocolate one was the best. We heard someone chuckle behind us. I looked over my shoulder, I felt like my stomach fell out of my ass because standing behind us was Cane. I hadn’t seen him in roughly seven and a half months. Before I could get a word out Waylon rushed around me and threw himself into Cane’s arms.

“CAAAAANNNNNEEE! Mished you.”

He cuddled up in his arms and I looked over at Walker and he was just watching. Ever the quiet observant one. The fake tattoos he has on his arms are an obsession he got after spending time with Cane and that hasn’t stopped despite him not being around.

“I missed you too buddy. I see you’re picking out my favorite cereal. Maybe you can grab me a couple boxes so I have some for home too.”

He places Waylon down and Waylon runs over to the shelf to grab the boxes of cereal for Cane.
