“Fuck yeah, she is.”

“Not helping, Leo,” shaved head hisses before elbowing Leo hard enough in the ribs that he coughs but continues to laugh.

I think they might all be crazy.

Even before I’m fully conscious, my head throbs, and I know something's wrong.

I try to move, but it doesn’t work, and with a groan, I peel my eyes open, blinking past the pain it causes me.

It’s dark, but not so dark that I can’t see, though there isn’t much to see; a concrete wall sits in front of me and to each side. The room isn’t big, but other than me, it appears to be empty.

Again, I try to move, even if it's just to adjust. I don’t get far, and my panic begins to grow.

I’m seated in a chair, my arms and legs bound tight enough that I feel the ache in my shoulders.

Shit.

The kink in my neck lets me know I’ve been in this position for longer than I should have been, and I grimace in pain when I try to look around some more.

But even pushing through the discomfort, all I see are the concrete walls, the door, and me. There’s no sound, and the air is stale, like mildew.

I’m completely alone, and I really hope that means that Addison is safe. They’d only taken me to the car, but I didn’t make it into the car before I passed out. I just hope they didn’t circle back.

Please let it be only me in this hell.

I’d happily sacrifice myself a million times if it meant she was safe and sound with Nathan and the others…

Vince.

My throat feels tight, and my eyes sting thinking about him.

Please let him be okay, alive.

Speaking of alive, I can’t help but look down at my stomach.

Is my baby okay?

There’s no way of knowing. I’m not even far enough along to really be showing yet, so there’s nothing physical to see. If anything, someone might just think I need to lay off the cookies.

I hope that means he or she is okay too.

I’m ripped from my thoughts by the high-pitched screech of metal on metal behind me, and the door swings open, letting in enough light that, even with it behind me, I can’t help but squint and look away.

“Ithink Haze and Elio are adorable!” The psycho one, Zander, says with a smile that confuses me. He seems all for the mushy love stuff, but I also have a pretty vivid memory of him chopping off Carter’s pinkie.

“Enough!” Jade's voice snaps through the room with all the force of a Bratva queen as all eyes turn to her and mouths snap closed.

“We have business to take care of and a girl who needs our help. We need to focus.” She gives them a moment before she turns her attention back to us.

“Excuse my manners. I spent most of the first twenty-ish years of my life in sex trafficking rings, so I’m not great at socializing.”

I know I can’t be the only one shocked by her little bomb, but I can’t bring myself to look around to see how the others took her words when she starts introductions.

The big guy is Kratos, the silent one is Roderick, the grumpy one is Spencer, the crazy one is Zander, and the blonde, as we already heard, is Trent.

One of her men isn't here: Jake, because he’s the mayor and couldn’t leave on such short notice.

I have a vague memory of what he looked like last time, but that’s it.
