I cleared my throat. “I hadn’t planned to do this in front of a queen, and everything is moving quite fast, but I’m told we might have a dragon egg at any moment. I want our child to be known and loved by all of his fathers. So, will you marry me? Both of you. With the Queen’s permission of course.”

“The Queen gives her permission,” the Queen said, smiling a little. “But it shall be a grand occasion, and the crown will need time to plan it.”

“Time is fine,” I said. “Just… marriage is the end goal.”

Oallian whooped, and dragged me to my feet and kissed me hard on the lips, then he kissed Kess, sweeping him down into a low, romantic dip and grabbing his ass. Kessrin yelped, then laughed.

“No one has said yes,” Delsynarea said.

“Oh! Sorry, the kiss was a yes for me,” Oallian said. “Do you think we should have a spring wedding? That gives us months to plan the festivities, and to retrieve my hoard—”

I ignored Oallian and turned to Kess. “What do you think? Will you marry us?”

Kessrin was bright pink as he looked up and met my eyes, his wide and blue. “You really want to get married? I mean, that would be tying yourself forever to Oallian’s chaos.”

“My chaos is great! Why would anyone not want to be tied to it? I make everything fun!”

“And to me, and my… me,” Kessrin said, cheeks getting pinker.

Oallian rolled his eyes. “Yes, I’m sure he definitely doesn’t want to be tied to the sweetest, most perfect, most beautiful, and fiercest ice dragon in the land.”

“I love both of you for exactly who you are,” I said, smiling down at Kessrin. “His joy and fierceness. Your loyalty, kindness and grace. As long as you don’t mind being tied to an ordinary human for however long I get, I’m in.”

“Oh, you are far from ordinary,” Oallian said.

“If the resonance takes, that may be a great deal longer than you’re expecting,” Kessrin said. “Though we’re not sure exactly how long, given Oallian doesn’t know how old he is.”

Oallian nodded. “Vyranthos is just terrible at math. And dates. But I feel young!”

I smiled at both of them. “Then I hope it takes. I’d love to be with both of you for as long as possible.”

Kess blushed. “But it doesn’t always happen, so I daren’t hope.”

The Queen scoffed. “Don’t be ridiculous, Kessrin, of course you are resonant. Now go, and do whatever bed things Oallian has planned before he says another inappropriate thing in the crown’s presence.”

Oallian beamed and grabbed Kessrin by the arm, yelling, “Thank you, Delsy,” as he sprinted out of the room in a way that was probably not appropriate. I followed them out.

“Mr. Liang.” The Queen’s voice snapped out behind me.

I turned around.

“He has never asked me for anything,” she said. “Not one thing. Only this, with the two of you. See that you make that request worth his time, and see that you do not disappoint him.”

“I will do everything in my power to keep him… un-disappointed, Your Majesty,” I said, giving her what I hoped was a courtly bow. “Happy, I mean happy.”

CHAPTER 27: KESSRIN

All I wanted was to drag Connor and Oallian into bed and put them inside me, but everyone kept finding other things for us to do. First, Pip and Sky had stopped by for a light lunch, and then Oallian had announced that he was going to rearrange things in my apartments so that they were more suitable for three men and had disappeared into the other room.

I glared grumpily at the bedroom door. Why couldn’t he take a minute to just fuck me? I turned to Connor, hoping he was about to initiate something, but he was staring at my shoulder.

“Are you sure you don’t want to wrap that up?” Connor asked, stepping close to inspect my shoulder, as if to prove my point.

“It is fine. I barely feel injured. Dragons heal differently than men, remember?”

He said nothing, just leaned forward and laid his lips against my shoulder through the fabric of my shirt. “I didn’t like seeing you like that, sweetheart,” he whispered, kissing my collarbone, then my neck. Slowly, he unbuttoned the front of the shirt, inspecting the muscles of my shoulder, and leaving a trail of kisses where the injury had been. If I had not already been healed, I was quite sure Connor’s mouth would have handled it.

“It wasn’t a big deal.”
