Kessrin’s eyes widened and he was starting to look a tiny bit less splotchy.

I was confused. “Why is it difficult to know what to do about it?”

“Because you’re dragons. How do I ask you to waste fifty or so years of your centuries-long magnificent magical existence, like… what? Following me to California? Or do I stay here and—”

That seemed like a good time to kiss him, so I did, smiling against his lips a little too much for the kiss to be anything but slightly awkward. And then I kissed Kessrin, too, tasting the salt of his tears on his lips, and pulling him close and tight against me, listening as he took a very shaky breath.

“Why would any time spent with you be a waste?” I asked as I hauled Connor into our hug.

“It wouldn’t be,” Kessrin said quietly. “Of course it wouldn’t be. We’re in love.”

“Right. And I know better than anyone that you have to make the most of the time you have with the people you love, because you never know when the murderous fire dragon that lives inside you will decide it’s his turn. For example. And I obviously am madly in love with both of you and have been pretty much this whole time, though it did take a tiny bit longer with Kessrin because he’s so uptight—”

Kessrin made a soft growling sound, and I leaned in and kissed him on the cheek, still smiling.

“Love you too, Kess.”

“Could we go to San Jose together?” Connor asked.

Kessrin nodded. “The Queen approved it, if we want.”

I cleared my throat. “There’s one teensy tiny problem, though, with the San Jose idea. You see, Connor’s world doesn’t have dragons.”

“So?” Connor asked. “Can’t you just not go full dragon while we’re there?”

“But Kess is in heat,” I continued. “And if his body begins producing an egg, he must transform into his dragon form until the egg is laid. He will not be able to control it, and it takes about a week to produce an egg from the first fertilization.”

Kessrin stepped back and let out a loud sniffle, then wiped his face on the sleeve of his jacket, which was possibly the most un-Kessrin-like thing to happen in the history of Kessrin. His eyes were puffy, and his pale skin was pink all over and he looked seriously adorable.

“Do you… want an egg?” Connor asked slowly. “A baby? Or should we be trying to prevent that?”

I wasn’t sure if he was asking me or Kessrin, so I answered. “It’s hot as fuck,” I said. “I’m going to breed him so good. He is going to be full of us constantly until it takes, dripping with our cum, on his hands and knees and begging for more. I think it is the single best thing that has ever been suggested to me.”

Vyranthos was all appetite and no words, but I could tell he agreed with me.

Connor’s eyes had gone dark.

“Okay. I could be into that,” he said. “Very, very into that.”

Kessrin huffed out a breath. “It’s all well and good until you have a baby dragon.”

“That part is a little alarming,” Connor said. “I’ll admit that. But this… seems to be kind of my fault, so I can’t really complain about the consequences of my actions.”

“Very much your fault,” I agreed. “I only had a small role to play, since I was obeying orders. Like a good boy.”

Nobody moved for a moment as Connor and I both stared at Kessrin, presumably both making plans that involved breeding him, and Kessrin developed a blush, which highlighted his splotchy pink cheeks quite nicely.

Connor cleared his throat, looked at my naked body, then towards the stone wall with a Kessrin-sized hole in it. A group of guards were standing below the hole, pointing and gesturing. “So, should we look at the mirror? Or do we go back to the palace?”

“I did carry it all of the way out here,” Kessrin said quietly. “But Oallian is very naked.”

Connor sighed and quickly unbuttoned his shirt, then handed it to me, one eyebrow up. “At least everyone’s dick will be covered. Come on.”

“I quite like my dick to be out in the open in case Kessrin urgently needs to be bred.”

“I do not need to be bred. Not that urgently, anyway.” From the way his eyes darted around, I was pretty sure Kessrin was lying.

We walked together, Connor between us, not a one of us fully dressed. Connor walked with a hand on Kessrin’s lower back, and I held Kessrin’s good hand, both of us obviously not quite ready to let him go after seeing him dead-looking in a field.
