“Is it safe? For him, I mean.”

“Yes. The shift itself costs him nothing.”

I looked at the dragon. The dragon looked at me, his eyes full of aimed, hopeful attention.

“Okay,” I said. “Show me where.”

Lord Frost walked me over. The dragon held absolutely still, the way big nervous dogs do when they want you to know they’re being good.

“The forehead,” Lord Frost said. “On the plate above his eyes.”

The scales were smooth and warm, and under my palm there was a low fine vibration, like a purr with the volume off. Then the vibration rose to meet my hand, the whole enormous attention of him turning toward the touch, and the warmth surged, and the air folded.

I stepped back off pure instinct, and where two tons of dragon had been there was a man.

A very naked man, jumping in place.

“Yes! It worked! Yes yes yes!”

He was tall, at least a few inches taller than my six-foot-two, with light brown skin and dark hair, and golden brown eyes that looked almost orange. Objectively, the man was beautiful. And it was difficult not to stare at his cock.

A gardener at the far wall watered the same plant for a while, eyes on the round globes of the dragon’s naked bottom. Two guards developed an intense professional interest in the sky.

“Should we get this dude some clothes?”

Lord Frost blinked, then rushed away, and returned with a robe over his arm. He approached the naked man the way you’d approach a large happy dog with a towel after a bath.

“Stop moving, let me get this on you,” he muttered. “We are due for an audience with the Queen, who would very much like to meet you in human form.”

The dragon-man stopped bouncing and took a step back, tying the knot on his robe. “Are you sure that’s wise? I can continue to communicate through the Lord High Commander, if you prefer. To avoid any risk to her highness.”

“It is not my place to tell a queen what is wise.” Lord Frost stepped back and restored four feet of distance in one motion, and smoothed his own sleeves, which had not been disturbed.

I stepped forward, holding a hand out to the dragon-man. “I’m Connor. Connor Liang.”

He beamed and pumped my hand with both of his. “I know! You already said that. I’m Oallian Vyranthos. It’s so great to meet you. Have you ever considered being a dragon’s pet? I’m in the market for someone with your—”

“Oallian,” Lord Frost snapped. “He is a person, not a pet.”

“I mean—”

This time, Lord Frost didn’t speak, his icy glare was enough to shut Oallian up. But even with his mouth closed, his orange brown eyes flicked to me, full of plans.

CHAPTER 4: KESSRIN

I walked the newcomers through the east gallery at a dignified pace, trying to remain calm, forcing myself not to look back at Connor, or at the dragon by his side. Oallian was beautiful.

I had known that he would be because Oallian’s brother was just as gorgeous. But knowing someone was attractive in human form and watching that attractive someone bounce down a courtyard naked and cheering were different experiences.

Also, I had seen his cock. It was a very nice cock with impressive proportions. This was not pertinent to my duties, and I looked forward to never thinking about it again, beginning shortly.

“After all of that flying, I’m ready for some food,” Oallian was saying, somewhere above Connor’s left shoulder, robe flapping. “The palace has soup. Do you like soup? I have been dreaming about soup for weeks. What do they eat in your world?”

“Depends,” Connor said.

“Wow, I’ve never been inside the palace,” Oallian said, spinning as he walked. “It’s quite lovely.”

“Never?” Connor asked.
