She glared at him, looking way too sexy for someone pretending to be mad. Before she had the opportunity to explain they were now married, he kissed her.
Not just a quick kiss on the cheek.
Nope.
His hands held her around her neck, his tongue slipped in her mouth, and he stepped so close to her, there was no space between them. The silence at the table wasn’t a surprise. Charlotte’s arms went around his waist. The rest of his life, he got to kiss this woman, and he was a lucky fuck for it. He wished they would have skipped dinner altogether and gone back to his hotel room to officially consummate their marriage.
Rookie mistake, he thought to himself.
He moved away from Charlotte and turned to their families. The table was speechless, as was expected.
“Charlie has something she wants to announce.”
He sat down in the empty seat and grinned at her. She gave him a look, like that’s one way to tell them.
“Are you…did you…are you drunk?” her mom sputtered.
Charlotte looked at her mom. “No, I am not drunk. But Rafe and I have a funny story to tell you.”
“I wouldn’t call it funny.” He was unamused and crossed his arms. He didn’t like how she was starting off describing their decision to spend the rest of their lives together.
“I would—you kissed her,” Elena snarked.
“Dude,” Jason said painfully slow, “you kissed my sister.”
“In front of our parents,” Gabriella added.
“Oh shit.” Samantha giggled from her side of the table.
“Everyone, hush,” Carly demanded. “Let my daughter explain why she kissed Rafe in front of all of us.”
“Well, technically, he kissed me first,” she said.
Rafe interrupted her. “No, technically, our first kiss was your idea.”
“What is going on?” Patrick asked. For someone who had just witnesses his daughter kiss someone, he didn’t seem too bothered by it if the accepting smile on his face was any indicator.
“Rafe and I are in love. We’ve both known since we were kids. From our first kiss to our first fight, we always knew we were made for each other.”
“Oh my.” Carly fanned her face to stop any tears of happiness from coming down. She reached for Rafe’s mom. “We always dreamed this would happen.”
Ashley nodded, tears streaming down her face.
“Today, we decided to make it official,” Charlotte told the table.
“My baby sister has a boyfriend,” Jason pestered her, making their family and friends laugh.
Charlotte gave a half-smile. “Not exactly.”
“Rafael,” his father was going all Italian on him, “what does this mean? You are not her boyfriend, but you are in love?”
Rafe stood up next to Charlotte. “She will never have a boyfriend again.”
Confusion mumbled across the table.
“Because,” Charlotte said over the chatter, “we got married.”
Pandemonium happened as their table exploded with questions. Their loudness didn’t make anyone in Vegas flinch, they were used to the noise. Rafe and Charlotte tried to answer everyone, not sure if anyone was really listening.
