“Nope. I was nervous, so I didn’t eat before I got here. I knowyou have an appetite, so I got one taco of each option.”
“What if we want the same taco?”
Sofia shrugged. “Don’t bite the arm that feeds you.”
He chuckled again. “It’s hand.”
“Whatever, let me so those pictures.” She grabbed for his phone.
“I airdropped to your phone, so you have them all.”
She gave him a smug smile. “I can’t believe you know whatairdrop is, grandpa.”
He pulled the tray of tacos out of her reach. “I’m six yearsolder than you.”
“Basically, an old man,” she teased back, leaning over and grabbing one of the tacos.
He lifted a brow. “An old man you like.”
Sofia ripped the taco in half and gave the other portion to him.“Touché, sir, touché.”
“What are you plans after food?”
She grabbed another taco, sharing with him again. “They targeteverything will be over around six. I’m staying for the whole event. This kind of thing is exciting to me. Then no plans after. Whatabout you?”
“I was going to see a movie tonight; want to come with me?”
Sofia paused. Spending time with Alex, while she used to preferto avoid him at all costs, turned out to be something she lookedforward to. It wasn’t like this was a date, they were only friends, soshe had nothing to worry about.
“I’ll go, but only if I get to pick the movie.”
“Should I be grateful Spice Girls aren’t together anymore?”
“They still tour, Posh doesn’t join because she has her clothing line.”
“What a shame,” he said sarcastically. He shared a half of histaco with her. “Fine, your pick.”
This made her happy and she teased him all her options. Shewas grateful he didn’t leave after they ate lunch. In fact, they spentthe rest of the day together, and Sofia had to keep reminding herselfit wasn’t a date.
It wasn’t a date when they sat close to each other, and heexplained the pictures to her. He was beyond talented. He managedto make a Sudoku competition seem like a rock concert.
It wasn’t a date when they went to a movie together and sharedlaughs. Alex didn’t bat an eye when she selected the latest romantic blockbuster.
It wasn’t a date when they went to dinner afterward either. They couldn’t stop talking, and she didn’t argue when he demandedhe walk her home.
What actually wasn’t a date, to her dismay, was once theyarrived back to her apartment , Alex gave her a hug and left.
What the hell was that about?
It was better off, really. Sex would only muddle things and anymore complications between them weren’t needed. At least that waswhat she told herself.
Really, she wanted a kiss. And so much more.
