Sofia got to the door and turned back to him. “Nothing.Except now, we don’t need to fight every chance we see each other.I’m sure our friends will appreciate it.”

She left and Alex sat on his couch. Their friends were going tolove outings that didn’t include Sofia and him arguing nonstop. Itnever failed to happen whenever they were together.

But was that enough for him?

“YOU’RE A LIFE saver.” Lucy gushed over her client’s enhanced site

Sofia just fixed. “I can’t believe this only took you twenty minutes.”“It wasn’t like I had to build the Taj Mahal.”

It was an easy fix. She would’ve finished faster, but once she

was updating the site, she started playing around with features.Lucy wasn’t a tech has-been , but it was hysterical how much peopledidn’t think to use Google. The site was significantly better thenwhere it was before she enhanced it.

“Either way, this was a huge help, I appreciate it. How muchdo you charge clients for this?”

“An embarrassing amount,” she said slyly.

Lucy nodded, pleased with the new website. “How much do Iowe you then? This is fantastic and my client will love it.”

Sofia did love the accolades though. “Next time we go out,you owe me a drink.”

“Or you could get on my payroll.”

Lucy had asked this on multiple occasions, and Sofia wishedshe could. It wasn’t that she didn’t enjoy helping her bestie, but shewasn’t leaving consulting. It gave her the flexibility to travel whenshe wanted, even though she never took advantage of it.

When she got into consulting, part of her thought she wouldtravel more, even though she never did. There was always the nextassignment she didn’t want to pass up.

“Not right now.” Sofia opted for a subject change. “Are youworking all weekend?”

“Yup. Jack is at the office now, and we’ll probably grab dinnerat some point, but we are attached to laptops today.”

“Compared to when?” Sofia teased at how they workednon-stop.

Lucy shrugged at the comment. “What can I say, we like towork. Anyway, what happened after we left the bar last night? Youguys have fun?”

Fun.

What an understatement. That didn’t even begin to describeher night. No way was she divulging in the detail about the best sexof her life. Lucy wouldn’t be entertained by the idea of her sleepingwith Alex, let alone about how mind-blowing it was.

“Dominic ended up leaving with Claire.”

Lucy didn’t ask who Claire was. When it came to Dominic,it was just another girl in the ever-changing line for him. She didhowever, feign a face of horror.

“If Dominic left with some random woman, it means you andAlex were left alone. You don’t have any scars. Is my brother okay?Is he alive?”

Oh, she had her scars alright. Excepts her were the kind noone saw.

“We actually got along.” Short and sweet. Sofia didn’t provideany additional detail because she wasn’t sure what to day. “Yourbrother and I decided to get to know each other last night, and weended up banging until the morning” didn’t seem like the appropriate response.

“Did anyone capture this monumental occasion on camera?”

This made Sofia giggle. Part of her wished she did take a pictureof her and Alex. Not to share with anyone, but to have for herself. It was one of the best nights of her life.

“Nope, you have to take my word.”

Lucy was shocked and it wasn’t pretend this time. “I neverthought it would happen. All it took was Dominic leaving with awoman for you and Alex to bond.”

Sofia nodded, wishing the subject would change.
