But him bringing me to his nest. His space. Maybe the only place where he lets himself be fully omega. It chips away at the fear sitting on my chest.
Reed is really choosing me, us.
After spending the morning in the blanket fort, I can admit my back hurts.
Not that I’d tell the guys; we’d tried our best. Grabbing, I'm sure, every blanket and pillow they owned. With all their scents perfectly mixing under one tent, I don’t think I would have been able to sleep anywhere else.
Being kicked out of my room, my nest, after that horrible interview… I could feel myself slipping.
If I didn’t have my Pack… gosh. I don’t know what I would have done. After lunch in Neven’s kitchen, Asher and Soren made themselves scarce. Reed, though, grabbed my hand and said he had something to show me.
Now, outside his sacred omega space, he slowly opens the door. The room is perfectly nest-sized, ceiling and walls covered in sheer fabric that softens the space. Low lighting illuminates a bed that nearly takes up the entire room. Everything is a rich, deep cream color, and it literally looks like a cloud. There is a small fridge in the far back and rugs to protect bare feet from the hard floor.
“It’s not much, but I would…” Reed’s face is red as he talks, his hand holding the back of his neck as he stares anywhere but at me. “I would love to share it with you… if you like it. We’ll work on getting your own if you want—”
“I love it. I love it. Can I go in?” My voice can’t contain my excitement, and my omega itches to crawl in. This is a real nest. A proper one filled to the brim with blankets. Not storage containers of stuff. Not doubling as a living space. No outside objects, notebooks, computers, clothes—well, there are a few shirts and whatnot tucked in, but not a whole wardrobe.
No utilitarian distractions. Just a bed. Soft things.
This is… perfect.
“Yes, please.” The words set me off like a rocket into the pile of blankets and pillows on the bed. Rolling around a bit, I grasp the softness in my hands as Reed steps in and closes the door behind him.
“This is… this is everything.”
Reed gazes off to the covered window that's covered with a blanket, the light almost completely smothered but not quite.
“Have you ever had a nest?” Reed asks, shaking his head. “I mean, like, one you don’t have to also make your room.”
“No.” My eyes can’t stop roaming the room, taking in every bit of omega heaven. “I didn’t know I’d be an omega. I didn’t present any of the traits until one day I just perfumed.”
“Same. We all swore I'd be an alpha and it's not just because of how I grew up.” He chuckles and I take his hand in mine. Interlocking our fingers. He lets me. Taking it a step further and laying down, bringing me over him.
“Maybe it’s another way we belong together,” I murmur.
“How did you grow up?” Reed murmurs against my head and I smile against his chest.
“My mom is an omega and has three scent matches, two alphas and a beta, and they have been together for longer than I've been alive. I have a little sister, Harley. She’s twelve. We grew up in one of those nice suburban homes with a white picket fence. But Col, my dad who's a beta, loves bikes. Was once part of a MC and even though he left, members still come around and I think that's why I settled into you guys being bikers so well. Still a little shocking, as your MC is much bigger and into much more… stuff. But I don’t hate it. In fact I think I could come to love it.”
“Oh really? Do you want a bike of your own?”
“That I'm not sure of. Col would absolutely love to get me a bike. I love riding with you guys though.”
“You will always have a space on the back of our bikes.”
I turn my head so my chin rests on his chest and I can see his eyes. “Always?” I ask.
His brown eyes peer into mine, his white hair appearing with an orange haze from the sunshine trying to peek its way through the window covering. Reed stares at me, running his tattooed fingers along the side of my face. It makes my armor he’d chip earlier start to build back up. But he smiles. His beautiful damn smile. And he nods.
“Always, Princess.”
“Esper, you’re burning up.” Reed wakes me by kissing my forehead, lingering his lips on me.
“I am?” I say, scrunching my brows. I pretty much have been in a constant state of hot as hell since yesterday. I bend my knees and cuddle Reed harder, despite the light coat of sweat covering my skin. I smell myself, of course, like I always do, but my cranberries mixing with Reed’s pancakes is especially comforting. So incredible that a moan slips out as I settle back in, hoping to go back to sleep.
But then there’s a sudden gush between my legs… that was unexpected.
I shove my face into Reed’s chest. His intoxicating pancake scent hits me like a drug that I just can’t get enough of. My thighs ache, in a sickly familiar way, and I shake my head.
