“Good girl.”

His pace contradicted the urgency building between us. His fingers worked my clit in tandem with the rhythm of his hips, and the fire that had been building all night gathered at my center.

My gaze flicked to our reflection in the glass wall. His body curved over mine, as my back arched, both of us moving together like it had been choreographed. I looked away quickly, feeling too much.

We moved again with me on my back. I hooked one leg over his shoulder, his pace never faltering. He looked down at where we were joined, then back up at me. I’d never seen this expression on him before. He let his guard drop, fully present.

“Stay with me,” he said, but the way he said it, I wasn’t sure if he meant right now or later.

I gave him the only answer I could, eyes flicking to his as he drove me wild. Each thrust bridged the gap between us that had been open for weeks. His eyes held mine, and I could see it happening to him too, whatever was happening to me. His jaw tensed as his breath broke on every stroke. He couldn’t control his face no matter how hard he tried. He tried to hold himself together, to hold himself back.

Then, his composure cracked, eyes squeezing shut, as he groaned. A wave of tenderness moved through me. I did that. I was doing this to him. This man, who controlled everything around him, who tried to never let anyone see him off-balance, was coming undone inside me. And even when he opened his eyes again and tried to take it back, trying to find the rhythm again, it was too late. I’d already seen it.

It was the most thrilling thing I’d ever witnessed. I touched his face and the place where his pulse hammered beneath the skin. He turned his head and pressed his lips against my palm, and the tenderness of it in the middle of the heat, urgency, and sweat was wrecking me.

“I’m in trouble,” he breathed against my mouth.

I pulled him deeper into me. I kissed him with everything I had, with everything I couldn’t say.

We came together, my body clenching around him, his release following a beat later as his forehead dropped against mine. Our sounds tangled—his low groan and my sigh—filled the room, then faded into silence. I was inexperienced, but I’d never felt this satisfied before, and something told me this wasn’t normal.

His arms wrapped around me as the tremors moved through us both. Our breaths were ragged and synced. His heart pounded against me so hard, I couldn’t tell which heartbeat was mine.

He stayed inside me, face buried in my hair, arms locked around me like he was afraid I’d disappear. I wasn’t going anywhere. But morning was coming, and morning would change things.

THE SCRIPTED DRIVE

Ididn’t want to move because then it would be over, and I wasn’t ready for that yet. But the condom wasn’t going to handle itself. I pressed my lips to her forehead, peeled myself away, and walked to the bathroom.

Standing at the sink, I splashed water on my face. The man in the mirror looked more relaxed than I’d seen in a long time. I wondered how I could hold on to that. I grabbed a towel, cleaned up, and went to the kitchen.

The house was dark except for the light above the stove and the glow under the stairs. The tile was cold under my bare feet. I pulled two glasses from the cabinet, filled them, and drank mine at the counter. I refilled my glass, grabbed hers, and walked back. From down the hall, sheets rustled as she got comfortable, and I smiled.

When I returned, she lay against the headboard, sheet pulled to her chest. Her curls flowed around her shoulders as she smirked, dropping her eyes past my abs. She flicked them back to me, then they dropped again as she pulled the sheet higher.

I stopped. “What?”

“You’re just—” She gestured at all of me. “Walking around like that.”

I looked down. Right. I’d walked to the kitchen, poured water, and walked back without clothing. After what we’d just done, it hadn’t occurred to me to cover up.

I handed her the water. “You’ve seen everything already.”

“That was horizontal. This is vertical. It’s a different experience.”

I shook my head and grabbed a pair of boxers from the dresser. She watched me pull them on, trying to look relieved and not disappointed.

She sipped the water and exhaled like she’d been running. “Thank you. I needed that.”

“The water or the other thing?”

She threw a pillow at me. I caught it, set it on the bed, and climbed in beside her. She scooted over to make room, but stayed close, her shoulder against my arm and her knee by my thigh. I set my glass on the nightstand and leaned back against the headboard. Through the glass wall, the hills were dark shapes against the sky, the city sprawling below them.

She followed my gaze to the glass. “How do you live like this? What if someone’s out there?”
