Anticipation thrummed in my chest, rushed through my veins.
“Jet?”
Instead of answering, he lowered down.
Wrapping his arms around my legs to keep them pinned open, I felt his tongue trace up my cleft. The sensation was foreign, strange, delicious.
A surprised sound bubbled up and burst out as I grabbed the back of his head, holding him against me. But he had no plans to move away. He only made it better as his tongue found that sensitive point and started to move around it in perfect little circles.
All my focus zeroed in on his tongue, on the pleasure coiling tight in my center.
My back arched, my thighs shook, and my hips rocked restlessly against his mouth.
Jet groaned against me, seeming to take pleasure in mine as he drove me closer and closer to unraveling.
It wasn’t long before I was trembling and breathless. I was humming and helpless.
My moans burst out, filling the room as something inside me tipped.
Then the waves crashed through me. And I let them carry me away.
The pleasure seemed to go on forever, but it was still somehow over too quickly as Jet released my arms and lifted his head, then moved to lean over the bed, hands planted to either side of my hips.
“That’s how that works,” he told me before turning and walking into the water closet.
Leaving me in shambles in the bed.
But there was nowhere else I’d rather be.
Not even, I thought in the tiny little corner of my mind, my lake.
CHAPTER FOURTEEN
Serin
I’d never worn so much material in my life.
I felt like I was carrying around another ten pounds as I ran my hands down the beading on my bodice and opened the door into the hallway.
My gaze found Jet first—standing near Vishen and Nira in an all-black tunic and trousers. His hair was slicked back, and there was a silver crown set with black stones sitting on top of his head.
I wasn’t sure I’d ever seen anyone more beautiful.
“Wow,” Jet said when his gaze landed on me.
“Seriously?” Vishen asked, speaking to Nira. “You did that?”
He got an elbow to the ribs for that. Hard. But Nira was smiling.
“It’s just missing one thing,” Jet said.
“Oh, I don’t have any… adornments.”
“I do,” he said, disappearing into his study for a moment then coming back with a silver tiara with black gemstones. It was a more feminine, delicate version of the one on his head.
“I can wear that?” I asked, wide-eyed as he approached me to set it on my head.
“You’re a princess.”
