“Just be happy that your crazy ass man ain’t with you.”
As soon as the words left her mouth, Dash came walking into the daycare carrying a few bags. Iva discreetly took the card out of the flowers and stuck it in her back pocket.
“Who sent you flowers, Iva? Let me tell big bro that he might have some competition.” Dash smirked when he looked over at his brother’s ex. Iva smiled awkwardly, hoping that her expression didn’t give her away. Dash would have torn some shit up had he known that the flowers were for Clover.
“I’m too cute for your brother. Apparently, he likes seahorses since he’s dating a bitch who looks like one.”
Iva was a dark chocolate beauty with a feisty attitude and foul mouth to match just like her best friend. Monty had been after her since they were teens, and she finally gave him a chance. He was in love with Iva but he fucked up when he got locked up. Dash and everybody else knew that they were gonna get back together, but it was taking longer than they thought.
“You and Monty need to stop playing and work that shit out.”
“Fuck Monty and please feel free to tell him that I said so.”
“I’m not even getting into all that. Where you want me to put this stuff at, Lucky?” Dash asked while looking at Clover.
“Put it in the kitchen. I’ll put it up in a minute.”
“Alright, I’m going to make sure Diva got everything ready for my baby’s party.”
“No, Boobie, let Diva handle that. I need you to get everything to the school on time. Hank said that he’ll go with you if you need help.”
Diva and Clover had made some snack bags for the kids in Kardi’s class. She also had some cupcakes and ice cream cups for her class to help celebrate her special day. A few of them were gonna be at the party, so they were gonna be celebrating twice.
“I got you, baby. Call me if you need anything. If not, I’ll see you at six.” Dash gave her a kiss before he headed back to the front.
Once Dash left, Clover walked around and greeted her staff and the kids that they looked over. She loved kids and being around them gave her more joy than it probably did the average person. She was an only child but she often fantasized about having siblings. She had friends but it just wasn’t the same. Moving in with Diva was the closest that she’d ever come to having big brothers and she married one of them. She didn’t want that for Kardi but she wasn’t ready for more kids just yet.
After putting the snacks away, Clover headed to her office to view the cameras. She shook her head when she saw a black Audi with heavily tinted windows pull up before sunrise. A tall, muscular built man with a light caramel complexion and a low wavy cut stepped out of the truck and placed the huge bouquet of flowers in front of the door. He put an envelope in the slot out front, and she was curious to know what was inside.
Trenton Latimer was a dude that Clover dated off and on when her and Dash were going through their divorce. His mother, Trudy Latimer, was actually her divorce attorney and that was how they met. He was at his mother’s office one day when she went for an appointment, and the rest was history. Trent was cool, but Clover never lied to him. He wasn’t the only one that she dated and he knew that Dash was never too far away. He was a gentleman and cool to spend time with but he wanted more than she could give him. Clover wasn’t about to waste her time and nobody else’s with promises of a relationship. Her and Dash broke up all the time but it never lasted very long. They both wasted their time dealing with other people because they always found their way back to one another.
Trent, unlike all the others, didn’t seem to understand the meaning of friends with benefits. He always said that he was waiting for Dash to fuck up again, but she still didn’t want him like that. He was cool to chill with, but Dash was clingy enough. She didn’t need another nigga on her back. Because of that, she backed up from him but he didn’t go away as easily as the others.
“What’s up, friend?” Iva said when she answered the phone.
“Check that lockbox for me and see what’s in there.”
Dash built a lockbox on the outside of the nursery for parents to drop their payments off before or after hours if they needed to. The slot was only big enough for envelopes and fell into another lock box on the inside.
“This nigga must not know how Dash get down. My bro is building houses and buying foreign whips. This nigga can’t think he’s impressing you with a stack.” Iva had taken the envelope out of the lockbox and counted the cash that was inside.
“Girl, that’s going right in Kardi’s bank account. Buy me Chick-fil-A on a Sunday if you wanna impress me. Dash is a hoe but he definitely made it hard for the next nigga.”
“Aside from Fonzo, all Diva raised was hoes. Them niggas can cook good like a muthafucka though.”
Hank was a country boy and knew his way around the kitchen very well. He taught his sons everything that his mother taught him, and they were a fool in the kitchen as well. He and his sons did all the cooking in their households and that was rare and strange to some people.
“You ain’t tell not one lie.”
“Monty’s fine ass can still get it though. That nigga had a bitch dick dizzy for real. Me and Sheba miss that big python.” Iva laughed at Clover’s expression when she mentioned the nickname that she and Monty had for each other’s private areas.
“Bitch, don’t make me gag. Caprice is messy as fuck, but I wouldn’t even let you do her dirty like that. All it’ll take is one time and she’s done for.”
“She better thank God for you. I would have fucked that nigga into a coma a long time ago.”
“Stay strong, friend.” Clover laughed, as Iva dry humped the air.
“Girl, Dot asked me to be backup at the bar tomorrow night in case there’s a crowd. I told her that I might have to fight that mutt that Monty calls a girlfriend but I got her.”
