She is near.
His abdomen coiled, the pleasure release close for him too.
“Tell me,” he begged, his voice deep. “Tell me ye are close.”
“I… I’m so close,” she said between her moans.
He reached down beneath their connection, one of his hands finding that nub of nerves above it, then he delicately toying with it. She bucked hard back against him, her moans louder, as she tipped over the edge.
He was in awe, watching the curve of her back and the way her head went wild, her hair flying about her head. He rode through her wave, indulging in the image he had so often fantasized about, but had no idea would be as amazing as it truly was.
He fought his release for as long as possible, but he knew she was right – they didn’t have long. He waited just until she had finished her climax, then couldn’t wait any longer. He pulled his length out and didn’t give her time to turn around and finish him on this occasion. With his own hand, he finished himself, closing his eyes and picturing what it would be like to stay inside of Kyven and make love to her completely.
He could picture her wide eyes in that beautiful, freckled face, the way her small hands would curl around his arms, possessively, lovingly.
Someday, maybe.
He released himself as the final wave of pleasure washed over him. She turned to face him, kissing him quick and giggling.
“Ye have delayed us,” she laughed and turned to find her gown. “I had nay idea there were so many ways tae make love.”
“Trust me, there are many more yet. Now ye are right, we will have tae be quick.” Yet he struggled to rouse himself and watched her dress as he realized the full implications of his wants.
He loved her, and he wanted to finish inside of her. To do so would have to mean that someday, they would be married.
Would she marry me? She is the lady of a clan… The council may nae want a soldier fer a laird.
Gilchrist’s hands were on the reins of the horse though he was distracted, thinking of everything that had happened over the past days. They had managed to buy thick shawls from a passing market using another of Kyven’s rings, plus more food for their journey. They rode with these shawls pressed around the pair of them, fighting the cold.
“How much longer do ye reckon?”
“Nay long now,” Gilchrist promised her as he urged the horse into another town. “I ken all of this.” He looked back and forth through the town.
They were very near the castle. This town had taverns where he and his brothers had come some times, for a chance to sit and be with the people. Gilchrist was so busy thinking of the old days, that he almost missed the sight of two men they were trying to avoid.
“I dinnae believe it,” he muttered darkly, stiffening in the saddle.
Stood between the tavern and the old barracks of some of the Gregor soldiers stationed in this town were Shay and Larry. Shay was clearly doing his best to hide with a cloak pulled up around his face. A laird in another clan’s lands without permission, he must have feared being seen. Larry took no such pains though, and it was his ratty face that Gilchrist saw first.
“We’ll have tae be quiet,” Gilchrist urged, just as Kyven clearly saw them too. Her hands tightened around his waist.
Larry looked their way and Gilchrist turned their horse.
“There arenae enough people here tae hide us,” Kyven muttered in panic.
“Then we need tae hide. This way.” Slowly, so as not to draw attention to themselves, Gilchrist led the horses around the barracks. They left them in the shadows of the building as Gilchrist pulled himself off his saddle and peered around the corner.
Larry and Shay seemed intent on holding their ground. They were arguing about something, until they drew attention from passing townspeople and Shay reprimanded Larry for talking too loudly.
“Can we nae get out of town without them seeing us?” Kyven called from the horse nearby.
“They’re blocking the path we need,” Gilchrist explained. “In the name of the wee man…”
Kyven slid down off the saddle but her horse, surprised, suddenly neighed loudly. Both men jerked their heads around. Gilchrist barely managed to hide himself behind the corner of the building in time, exchanging a panicked glance with Kyven. She bit her lip and mouthed the word, sorry.
Gilchrist winked at her. It was an easy mistake to make, especially with a horse as restless as this one.
“We wait,” he whispered. “Until they move on.”
