Lightning flashed outside as Boyd kissed his way down her stomach, caressing her inner thighs with his strong hands. “Yer skin is soft…” he breathed.
The raging storm was all but forgotten as Ava sighed at the sensation of his tongue gliding over her aching flesh. She reached down and tangled her fingers in his hair as he kissed the most delicate curves of her body, making her gasp for breath. Every caress and embrace opened her up to him as he took his time, making sure he kissed every inch of her body.
“Boyd…” she whispered his name again when he trailed kisses back up her body.
He stopped, looked down at her again after pushing himself up. “Have ye ever been with a man, Ava?” he asked as he gently pushed her robe from her shoulders before lifting his own shirt over his head.
Unable to speak, Ava shook her head as her chest rose and fell with excitement. The muscles of his chest were chiseled and perfect. Her flesh was on fire in a way that she’d never experienced. Heat was radiating through her very core.
“I could tell by the way ye responded…” he guided her hands to his waist and helped her pull his breeches down.
Ava blushed and quickly looked away. She’d tended to many men as a healer. But she’d never seen one in a state of undress before.
“Look at me,” he whispered as he gently guided her chin to meet his gaze. He used his free hand to lift her bare buttocks, bringing her body close to his.
She gasped again when she felt his desire pressing against her most intimate parts.
“Dae ye like what I did tae ye?” he asked as he breathed a little faster and examined her face.
“Aye,” she breathed heavily and stared into his eyes.
Boyd kissed her again, gently pushing his tongue into her mouth as he used his legs to spread hers apart. “This will only hurt for a second…” he whispered in her ear as he slowly pushed his body into hers.
Ava cried out as lightning struck outside. The first sensation lasted as long as the lightning. But it was quickly replaced with pleasure when Boyd began to move inside of her. With her in his arms, he used his hands to bring her hips closer to his with every thrust.
His hot flesh pressed against hers as their bodies synchronized in rhythm and breath. Ava moaned as the motions carried her to new heights. Her hands gripped his back for support as their breathing grew faster with gasps of pleasure. Ava could feel her muscles beginning to tighten with each moan that escaped her throat. She brought her legs up and wrapped them around his waist, an instinct she never knew she possessed. Boyd was filling her body and soul with desire and unspeakable pleasure.
Their pleasure quickly grew to the point where they could no longer contain themselves. Boyd groaned and pulsed in response to Ava's pleasure. He screamed and collapsed on top of her, his breaths coming in rapid succession. Her body spasmed and she let out a cry, giving in to the feelings her mind was fighting. Her body ached and tingled from all the pleasure Boyd provided.
Boyd caught his breath and shifted to the side, pulling Ava into his arms as he kissed her forehead. They lay like that for a while, content in each other’s arms as the storm subsided. The rain beat gently against the window as Ava breathed in the scent of his skin.
“Did it hurt?” he whispered tenderly in her ear as he pulled the blanket over them both. The chill of the storm was beginning to creep into the room.
“Aye, but it disnae anymore,” she ran her fingers through the hair on his chest.
Boyd lifted her chin and kissed her again before drawing her back against his chest. “I’m glad…” he said as he shut his eyes and stroked her hair while she lay against his chest.
Ava waited for his breathing to slow, indicating that he was fast asleep, before allowing tears to fall from her eyes.
And in that moment, she knew that she loved the man she was going to kill.
CHAPTER NINETEEN
Ava opened her eyes and stared at the empty space beside her in the bed. Reaching over, she felt the dent in the pillow where Boyd had fallen asleep last night. The storm outside had cleared in the middle of the night and the world was once again at peace.
He must have left only a short while ago… Ava thought as she could still feel the warmth of his body on the sheets beneath her fingertips.
Boyd had kept his word and spent the night with her in her bed after they made love. He’d whispered sweet nothings of reassurance in her ear as she drifted off to sleep in his arms.
The thought still startled her as she rolled over in bed, placing a pillow over her face. The worst part was that she’d enjoyed making love to him. He was gentle, attentive, and loving, making sure she was fine every step of the way. He’d even lifted her onto the bed and held her close when they were done.
“Morning,’” Skye greeted as she pushed open the bedroom door. Walking over to the window, she yanked open the drapes and let the early morning light spill into the room. “It’s time tae…” she paused as she caught sight of Ava’s disheveled hair and messy appearance in the bed.
Skye kept her eyes on her as she walked around the bed and picked up the robe laying on the floor. “What happened here?” she asked holding the robe at arm’s length as if it were a crucial piece of evidence.
Ava peaked at her from behind her pillow, glancing at the robe in her hand.
“Ava… are ye wearing yer night dress?”
