Despite this, she sat through the feast, smiling as she spoke with her new family and the clan members who had come to wish them well; keeping her lust at bay. She only considered leaving the feast early when she felt a tug on her hand and looked at Liam, his cheeks slightly flushed — whether from the alcohol or his desire for her, she didn't know.
“I think we’ve stayed long enough,” Liam whispered in her ear, giving her a devious grin. “It’s about time we retired to our chambers, dinnae ye think?”
Muriel wasn't about to argue, not with her handsome, new husband looking at her with such heat in his eyes. She nodded quickly, but she didn't know how to leave the feast undetected. Even though everyone else was laughing, talking, and dancing to the music, she felt as if all eyes were on her and that now that she was Liam's wife, they expected her to act a certain way.
But Liam simply dragged her along as he stood, leaning down only to whisper something in Ron's ear that she didn't catch before dragging her out of the room, a mischievous smile on his lips.
Perhaps they’re nae watchin’ me as much as I thought.
She had grown accustomed to being left alone while having everyone scrutinize her every move, so this was a welcome change. She was certain that there would still be some expectations placed on her for the clan, but no one was as strict as the nobles of her own clan, particularly her father.
When they arrived at the newly arranged chambers for the couple, Liam pushed her against the door; capturing her lips in a kiss. Muriel melted into it, the wine's slight buzz and her unbridled joy making her pliant in his hands as he pulled her hips forward; pressing their bodies together.
“I’ve been thinkin’ about this all week,” Liam mumbled; his lips brushing over her own as he spoke. “I dinnae ken how I stopped meself from comin’ to yer chamber every night.”
Muriel laughed; arms wrapping around Liam’s neck to keep him close. There was an urgency between them that had never been there before, a thirst that Muriel needed to quench. She began to claw at his shirt when Liam kissed her again; licking into her mouth to taste her, ripping the buttons off in her hurry.
“Easy noo, lass,” Liam said. “Ye’re about to eat me whole.”
“I want ye,” Muriel said in a breathless whisper; hands pushing the shirt off his shoulders before they trailed down his bare chest, nails scraping the skin. “I cannae wait anymore.”
“Aye, me neither,” Liam said. His hands all but tore the petticoat off her and then found the laces of her corset; tangling in them as he tried to loosen them. Muriel reached for him, eager fingers sliding under his kilt and wrapping around his manhood; tearing a wrecked moan out of him.
“Enough with this,” Liam all but growled; grasping the corset and pulling it as low as he could without fully unlacing it, exposing her breasts. At the sight of them, Muriel could feel him twitching in her hand and she gasped when his hot breath skirted over them as he sucked a nipple in his mouth.
“Will ye really make me beg, Liam?” she asked. “Please… please, I need ye.”
“Patience,” Liam said with a teasing smirk even though he sounded just as far gone as Muriel felt. For a moment, Liam pulled back and simply looked at her; making her entire face heat up with embarrassment. She didn’t know what she looked like but it couldn’t have been anything but indecent, hair ruined, cheeks flushed, and clothes shoved down; baring her skin.
Liam slipped a hand under Muriel's dress, circling her sensitive spot, before she could ask him again. She had to grab his hand as he moved toward her entrance; his finger slipping inside, and she groaned in delight. Her nails dug into Liam's shoulders, causing him to hiss.
“Ye’re ready for me, are ye nae?” he asked; all evidence he need resting between Muriel’s thighs. She was certain he knew just how ready she was; his fingers breaching her with ease.
“I’m ready, please, Liam,” Muriel said; giving him a frantic nod. Liam gave her what she wanted this time. He gathered her dress around her waist, then grabbed Muriel's thigh, draping her leg over his hip. He approached her slowly, both of them sighing in satisfaction and relief as he did so.
Muriel was relieved he hadn't made her wait any longer, despite the fact that the bed was right next to them. There was something exciting about him pushing her up against the door, something that made pleasure coil inside of her. She loved the thought that he couldn't wait to take her to bed and had to push her against the nearest surface instead.
Liam's movements were animalistic, thrusting deep into her. Every drag of his manhood inside her was a sweet torture, penetrating so deeply that her entire body thrummed and trembled. All she could do was hold on to him, her head pressed against the door. Even as she tried to be quiet, she let out soft, short gasps that turned into moans every time Liam hit that spot inside her that had her seeing stars.
Liam's grip on her thigh was firm; his fingers digging into her flesh, while his other hand moved to her breast, his thumb brushing over her nipple.
Perhaps that’s why I want him so much noo. Though I doubt it’ll ever fade.
She couldn’t imagine a life without Liam anymore. She didn’t want a life without him. The two of them were bound forever.
Muriel's delight washed over her, every muscle in her body tense in anticipation. Liam must have noticed, she thought, perhaps because of the constant, low moans she couldn't suppress, because he began to whisper in her ear.
“That’s it, mo ghràdh,” he said. “Let go. Show me how much ye like this.”
Muriel's climax hit her all at once, and she curled up in a ball, screaming Liam's name. Liam continued to thrust himself into her; pushing her through the aftershocks, and it wasn't long before he reached his own climax, spilling himself inside her.
For a few moments, neither of them could do anything but stand there, panting as they attempted to kiss, their passion still alive. When Liam finally let her go, she stumbled to the bed, chest still heaving, and lay on it with a joyous laugh.
Liam sat beside her, pulling her head into his lap and running his fingers through her hair. Muriel hummed languidly, her eyes closing and no longer caring about the state of her dress.
“Are ye happy?” Liam asked. Muriel opened her eyes to look up at him – still smiling.
“What does it look like?” she asked. “Of course, I’m happy. I’m the happiest I’ve ever been.”
She had everything she could possibly desire. She had the best husband, her mother was with her, and she had a new family who loved her. Soon, she'd have her own family, and even sooner, she'd have Caitriona, if only for a short time. Muriel had written to her as soon as she arrived in Argyll, inviting her to visit, and she had quickly accepted.
“Then I’m happy, too,” Liam said. “That’s all that matters to me, that ye’re happy. The happiest lass in the world.”
Muriel lingered for a few moments, her gaze fixed on Liam as if she couldn't get enough of him. She stood up and took off her clothes, leaving only her nightshift on before crawling into bed and patting the mattress next to her for Liam to join her. She moved closer to him as he did, nestling into his arms with a contented sigh.
She didn't know how to express her feelings for him in words. She didn't think there were words big enough to express her feelings for him, that nothing could do it justice. Instead, she kissed him, pouring her heart out and hoping he would understand.
The tender and careful way he kissed her back, as if she were the most precious thing to him, told her that he did.
