“Sleep with him. Got it.”
“But I wanted to.”
Dana’s smile grew wide like the joker’s and she had a glint in her eyes. “I knew it. I figured Ty Schulz was one sexy ass nerd.”
I burst out laughing. “He’s far from a nerd. And I think you’re already tipsy.”
She shrugged, “Maybe.”
“Not maybe. Definitely.”
“So tell me about your other guy? What’s his name?”
“Jean-Bernard.”
“Ohhhhhh,” she said exaggerating her vowels, “He sounds like a fancy man.”
“He is fancy. Very fancy.”
“Is he French or are his parents just pretentious?”
“He is French, but I know nothing about his parents.”
“Did you get into his pants at least?”
“Not even close.”
She made a face. “Is he unattractive? I didn’t pay a fortune for you to go out with anyone but the best-looking guys. I told them to pair you with guys who could do their own underwear commercials. You know like, Mark Wahlberg. David Beckham. Sexy men.”
“Well, Jean-Bernard is actually very good looking.”
“So you’re dating two hotties.” She high-fived me. “That’s what I’m talking about. Maybe you could get the two of them together and you guys could have a Piper sandwich.”
“A Piper sandwich?”
“Yep, you in the middle, one hot guy on one side of you and another on the other side.”
“That sounds freaky… yet delicious. Sign me up.”
We both started laughing. For the first time in a long time, I felt like we were teenagers again. It felt good.
Life had led me and Dana in different directions and I was so happy that we had still maintained our friendship. It had been tough after she married my brother because we had grown distant. She had been busy trying to be the perfect wife while raising a child. I had been busy traveling the world and learning who I was and what I stood for. It was nice to be back, around the familiar, around friends.
“So who do you like better?”
“Ty is intriguing. I want to get to know him better. In more ways than one.” I considered Jean Bernard. “But the Frenchman represents everything I want in a guy.”
“So what are you going to do?”
“Date them both and hope for the best. And I have another agency-sponsored date tonight. I’m kind of over it, but I signed a contract… sooo…”
“Girl, enjoy yourself. Don’t limit yourself. Do what you want.”
“You’re right.”
“I know. I always am.”
I gave her a dubious look and she laughed. “I’m on my second beer. I’m going to need you to drive me home.”
