“You guessed right.”
I then saw Simon standing there beaming at us. He was wearing a white suit and I had to admit he looked really sharp.
“Hey, Misha,” he said. “What do you think of the suit?”
“I think I saw Snoop Dog wear something similar to an MTV awards show,” I assured him.
His eyes lit up. “Seriously?” He then looked at Erik. “See, Big E, I told you. I told you this suit was sweet. You just don’t understand urban sophistication.”
“Why are you wearing urban sophistication on a beach?”
Simon shook his head as if he felt sorry for Erik. “Misha, explain to him about style because clearly I’m not getting through to him.”
“I’ll do my best, Simon, but you know Big E, when he has his mind set on something, it doesn’t change easily.”
Erik frowned. “I don’t know about that. I think I’m pretty open minded.”
Simon looked at me and I Iooked at him and we both snickered.
“What?” Erik said, looking from me to Simon. “What was that look all about?”
“Nothing,” Simon said with a smile in his voice. “Just text me when you’re done and I’ll come clear everything out.”
“Thanks, Simon,” I said as he left. Erik echoed my thanks.
“Not a problem. You guys enjoy.” Simon then winked at me as Erik turned away and I stuck my tongue out at him. I heard him laughing softly to himself as he walked away.
“So, what’s the plan, Big E?”
He looked pained. “Please don’t call me that. Simon started calling me that last year and it drives me nuts.”
“Did you tell him to stop?”
“I even tried to pay him to stop. The kid’s incorrigible.”
“I could see how that’s true...it’s like you hired a little you.”
He looked back at me. “Am I really that bad?”
“Well, Simon does have a better sense of fashion, but you’re both pretty head-strong and do what you want.”
“I never thought of myself that way.”
“Well, that’s the benefit of standing on the outside and looking in. You can see things from all perspectives. I imagine you and Oliver were a lot like how you and Simon are now.”
He sat down and thought about it. “Now that you mention it, I guess we were. I called Oliver Rich Dude for the longest time, just to mess with him.”
“When did you stop calling him that?”
“When I made my first million and he turned the tables and started calling me Rich Kid.”
I had to laugh. That sounded like Oliver.
“So, what do we have here?” I asked as I looked around at the spread in front of us. There were several tables with food prepared. Lots of seafood, fruit and breads.
And a chocolate fountain? “Is that seriously a chocolate fountain?”
“Simon insisted on ordering it. I thought it was cheesy.”
