“It was the only way to shut you up and to keep you from drowning in your self-pity.”

“Self-pity, is it?” She hit him playfully on the chest.

“That’s exactly what it is.” He ran his finger down her chest, circling one of her nipples, causing a tingle to flit over her skin.

“Rhys. That is making me excited.”

“Well, then I suggest we do something about it.”

“I think that’s a good idea.” She rolled atop him, straddling him with her legs. His hands went to her hips, closing around them.

“Oooo, I like this new, experienced Medea who just claims what she wants,” he told her in a deep, sultry voice.

“I learned from the best,” she replied, reaching down to kiss him. She felt his manhood hardening beneath her. “Is making love always the same?” she asked. “I mean, will I feel the same way I did when we did it in the field of lilies?”

“My answer is nay.”

“Nay?” Her heart dropped. She looked down at him and saw him smile.

“It’s better with each time,” he told her, waggling his eyebrows. “Let me show you.” He pulled her to him, sitting up partially, taking her breast into his mouth. Caressing her bottom with his hands, he suckled her at the same time, making the motions of a baby trying to nurse.

“Rhys, I wasn’t able to nurse,” she told him.

“Well, we can still pretend, can’t we?” He pleasured her with his mouth, causing her head to fall back. His hands touched her in just the right places to make her moan aloud. She rubbed up against his hardness, feeling herself coming to life. He was big and oh, so pleasing. Now that she knew how it felt to have him inside her, she couldn’t wait any longer to feel it again.

Positioning herself, she took him inside her, slowly sliding down his slick shaft until they’d joined as one. Now she felt complete. She was joined with Rhys, and they felt like one. She also didn’t feel lonely anymore. Together they did the dance of love, not stopping the thrusts in and out until they had both reached their peaks and cried out with elation.

Both of them breathing hard, she lay down next to him, feeling safe and protected and loved in his embrace.

“Do you think we made another baby?” she asked with a giggle.

His body stilled. “Don’t take this the wrong way, Medea, but I sure hope not. Because, if all of our children are going to be born and grow up as fast as Lily, I don’t think I can handle it.”

“Neither can I.” She smiled at him, and they both laughed together. “I know what you mean,” she said. “I haven’t gotten the knack of the first baby yet.”

“I need time to figure out how to be a father,” he told her. “What am I saying? I need time to figure out how to be a husband, too.”

They lay in each other’s arms until they both were able to steady their breathing.

“Yes,” she said aloud, in a strong and steady manner.

“Hmmm?” His eyes were closed as he was already falling asleep. He opened one eye. “What did you say?”

“Yes,” she answered with even more conviction now, knowing this was exactly what she wanted. “You asked me to marry you, Rhys Blackseed, and my answer is yes, I will. I want you as my husband, and also as the father of all my children.”

“Which we hope will only be one at a time,” he mumbled, kissing her on the nose.

“I am happy about this, Rhys.” Medea fell on her back and stared up at the ceiling. “I love you. I’m sure I do. And this is what I want more than anything in life. I wished for it on a star a little while ago and now it is already coming true. I did it while I bathed.”

“That all happened in the bath?” he asked, looking amused.

“Yes. I made a wish upon a bright star I saw out the window. I said I would give anything to be your wife and to raise our child together, and now it is happening. How odd is that?”

“That isn’t odd at all,” he told her, pulling her closer in his embrace. “When we focus on the good things we want in life, they tend to manifest faster.”

“Are you happy, Rhys? I know you are half asleep, but you sound as if something is bothering you.”

“The only thing bothering me, sweetheart, is that I’m not sure how we’re going to tell King Osric that you will now be my bride instead of his. That, and also how to not have him try to kill one or mayhap both of us when he finds out. I assure you, he’s not going to be happy that a powerful witch like you is no longer going to be doing his bidding.”
