Smirking, I continued to pump, his dick getting stiffer and swollen. He began shaking and coughing, jerking, thrusting, the wetness trickling over the web of my thumb. Matching Tyler’s grunts, he was seconds from exploding.

Abruptly, I withdrew both hands and stepped away. Grinning mischievously, I held his shocked stare and licked the precum off my skin. “I’m gonna get a beer. You want one?”

“What?” he nearly shrieked, cupping his throbbing dick.

“A beer. I’m thirsty.”

Coughing, he took an awkward step forward, bending over to lay his arm over the top of the chair, his forehead on his wrist. “What the fuck?” he whimpered, squeezing himself through the sweats.

I refrained the snicker and strutted out of the room, bounding down the steps. Tyler and Violetta’s second orgasm rang through the walls as I rounded the corner into the kitchen and opened the fridge. Plucking a beer from the shelf, I twisted off the cap and chugged a good portion, washing away some very delicious precum.

Leaning against the island, my hand shoved into the front of my jeans to rearrange my hardon. Since the moment I became aware of sex and lust, I had only ever had eyes for Billy. I wasn’t stupid, I knew Rebecca wasn’t the first woman he’d been with. I may be the only man, but he’d had several female lovers.

I, on the other hand, had only ever let someone suck me off. Once. When I was in jail. Otherwise, I had stayed committed to him, to my own detriment. Since I’d not touched my cell mate when he was giving me oral, Dash was only the second dick I’d ever touched in my life, other than my own.

Tilting my head to stare at the ceiling toward Dash’s room, I smirked, embracing this new enjoyment. It was refreshing to be attracted to someone new, a whole new form of excitement. Maybe Dash was the man I was looking for. A little more edging and I’d have him eating out the palm of my hand.

The smile faded and I looked down at the bottle. Would he be strong enough to take a stand, however, or was I setting myself up for another failure? I was too old to make the same mistake twice. I was ready to settle down.

Already, that quiet voice in my head was uttering warnings. I was still hung up on Billy and, as far as he was concerned, our relationship was as it always had been. He had no idea I was mentally pulling away. More than half of my life had been devoted to loving that man, waiting patiently for my turn to be a part of his future.

Dash was still in mourning. It had only been about two weeks since I’d buried his wife after he’d killed her during a fight about her affair with a rival gang member. Since meeting him, he had gone through one relationship after another, but Mary had been the love of his life. Eighteen days was far too soon for him to be willing to not only consider something new, but tempt him to cross the line of sleeping with another man.

Neither one of us were in a good place to entertain even fooling around. I was too vulnerable and eager for a commitment, and he was too fresh in his grief. If I started anything, I was setting myself up for failure and taking advantage of one of my closest friends.

Dash was a straight man, a very straight, homophobic man. Curious, but still discriminatory against gays. I couldn’t fool myself into thinking something could happen between us when, more than likely, as soon as we returned to the real world in Alabama, things would go back to normal. In fact, I should back off so as not to make things awkward when we went home.

“Shit.”

Shoving off, I pocketed a hand and strolled down the couple steps to the family room. Rounding the corner at the end of the lengthy brick fireplace, I went to the sofa in the living room and plopped down, propping my feet on the coffee table. All I wanted was my own person, a companion, a forever partner. Now that I was finally admitting that would never be Billy, I was latching on to the very first person I found attractive since I was fifteen. Even I recognized my own red flags.

I was an idiot. At this stage in my life, I should just give it up and focus on the Serpents. Once Jackyl was gone, I had big shoes to fill. There wouldn’t be any time to waste on a relationship. I certainly wouldn’t have time to convince a straight, bigoted man to fall in love with me and promise his future.

Sinking lower in the cushion, I stared at the blank television. I’d spent my entire adult life deceiving myself over one man, I’ll be damned if I dive headfirst into that stupidity again. I just needed to stay the hell away from Dash and keep our relationship as it always had been. Brotherhood. I just was not meant for anything more.

Chapter 6

Dario “Dash” Mangiacavallo

Sunday 8.19.2019

Midway down the stairs, I held my breath and listened, my heart thumping against my throat. The kids were screaming at one another in the living room and Tyler and Violetta were in the kitchen, chatting. Not hearing Vincent, I crept a few more steps and paused a second time.

After last night, I wasn’t ready to see him. Hell, I didn’t think I’d ever be able to look him in the eyes again. I’d never had a man touch my dick before, but the way he stroked it, jesus fuck! It had felt so goddamn good. And when he pressed on that spot behind my nuts, my knees almost buckled. I had heard people talk about how they came undone, but until that moment, I’d never understood it. His finger adding pressure on that spot had detonated a domino effect of explosions inside and energy had practically burst through my skin, turning my physical body into jelly.

I stopped at the foot of the stairs, gripping the banister, every muscle in my body tense and aching as my brain replayed that whole scene for the millionth time in less than twenty-four hours. His hard body against mine, his arms around me, his lips whispering against my ear had sent me spiraling into a frenzy, knocking my lust up to a level I’d never felt before.

It wasn’t just lust, however, which was odd. It gave a sense of safety because I knew Vincent, I trusted him with my life. Other than Jackyl, before the truth came out about him, I’d never trusted someone like him. I knew, no matter what, I wouldn’t be mocked or ridiculed, and whatever happened would remain a secret just between us.

So caught up in the moment, when he suddenly walked away, literally seconds before I exploded with one of the most intense orgasms of my life, I had physically hurt! For hours last night, I’d jacked off, trying to finish what he started, but nothing happened. I’d eventually stopped trying because my dick had gotten too raw to touch. Nothing I did felt good enough to compare to those few moments with Vincent, so the release had eluded me all night.

Now I was so goddamn tense, it felt like I was walking on glass. My dick still hurt, I had blue balls, and I swear to god if one person so much as batted their lashes too fast at me, I was snapping off! It was one reason I’d stayed in my room all day, but hunger and dehydration forced me to show my face amongst the living.

Very slowly, I strolled down the hallway, passing the dining room still covered in dinner’s dishes, and peeked around the corner to the kitchen. As soon as I peered in, the floor fell out from beneath me, my eyes instantly locking with Vincent’s.

Where the hell had he come from? When I looked at all the cameras before leaving my room, he’d not been on any of them. How had he hidden from me so easily?

Standing on the other side of the island, he was leaning against the counter, his arms crossed. He had on an army green tee shirt that clung to his biceps, the hem falling just below the waist of his snuggly fitting, faded blue jeans, the zipper curving over a natural bulge. The snake tattoo wrapped around his arm from his hand, upward, disappearing beneath the sleeve. He had a few day’s worth of beard on his jaw that somehow made it look wider than ever. His full lips were taut as he listened to his sister speak, his normally short hair a little longer without his weekly trim.
