Huffing, I stomped across the room and stormed through the door. I needed fresh air and a cigarette. This was too goddamn hard.
Chapter 32
Wyatt Shaw
Staggering down the stairs, I dropped my suitcase by the front door and huffed. I didn’t actually have that many clothes in there, but I was taking some books and movies to help occupy Amanda’s time whenever she was alone. It was deceptively heavy, and I probably should have just taken the elevator.
As if on cue, it dinged and the doors swished, Frank stepping out with two large suitcases dragging behind him, a garment bag draped over one shoulder, and a huge makeup case tucked under an arm.
I coughed, averting my gaze before he could see my jealousy. Regardless of what I said to her, it killed me inside to see her happy with Milo. It was something I would never admit, because as long as a part of her stayed committed to him, happy, and in love, she was safe. When she started dreading her relationship, she would let her guard down and Milo would get suspicious.
Still, she was married to him! She was married to another man, and they were leaving on a two week honeymoon. Two weeks of nonstop sex and kissing and celebrating the new marriage.
While I sat in a private, secret cabin, staring at the snow, writhing inside because I couldn’t see or touch my beautiful kitten.
Soon. I just had to keep reminding myself that soon, we would be able to start making solid plans about getting fake identities and just leaving. We would run away together, never look back, and have the life we deserved, together, as a couple.
“Where you going?” Frank asked, dropping his load with a heaved sigh. Rubbing at his shoulder, he rolled it, grimacing at the strain.
“You know, Chazzy can massage that right out, if you let her.”
A brow arched and he snorted. “No, thank you.”
“Why? I heard she’s pretty great at what she does.”
“That’s the point.” He patted my shoulder and gave a firm squeeze, bending forward while darting his attention around. Sure no one could hear, he muttered, “Already jacking off nightly to that hot piece of ass. Don’t need to know what those hands can do.”
My upper lip twitched, my jaw locking. “Are you serious?”
Scoffing, he continued to stretch his muscles, swinging his arm in wide rotations. “Dude, when Meyers died, and you had to send her to us in Florida, they started fucking in the backseat right in front of me. I almost wrecked the damn thing twice because I couldn’t take my eyes off her. That chick has a fine smelling cunt, I’ll tell you what.”
My lids lowered, my stomach cramping as bile shot up my throat, burning my tongue. Rage engulfing me, I had to take several long breaths to steady the fury that blazed through my veins.
“I personally want to live, so there ain’t no way in hell I’m gonna let that chick touch me. No way. She’s fucking dangerous.”
“What the fuck are you talking about? You only like skinny broads.”
Again, scoffing, he shrugged his hands out, his shoulders drawing to his ears. “I got a dick, don’t I?” His hand back on my shoulder, he pointed, his brows lifted. “If you seen what I seen that day when we were leaving the airport, you would change your mind about big girls, too, buddy. I know you got a set preference, but goddamn, watching him eat that fat pussy was hot as shit.”
I growled and shoved him off, rubbing at my forehead. I was going to snap and bust his face in, if he didn’t shut the fuck up.
“Is…everything okay?” Milo’s voice cut through my rising temper, immediately dousing it to a manageable level.
Raking my fingers through my hair to lock them at the base of my head, I peered down my nose as he and his gorgeous bride sauntered down the last steps to join us in the foyer.
Her brows furrowed, a hint of concern flickering in her dark pools. Before anyone noticed, however, she looked away and primped her jacket, tugging at the front and adjusting the buttons.
“Yeah, fine. Just stressed, is all.”
“About what?” he chuckled, tugging leather gloves over his hands. “You’re about to have the first real vacation of your life. No babysitting me or Chazzy.”
“That’s the point,” I hissed before I caught myself.
Her lids rounded ever so slightly, but she simply flipped her bangs off her face and hooked her hand to the inside of Milo’s elbow, acting aloof.
Frank chuckled, his fists on his sides. “See, this is what I was talking to you about, boss.” He wagged a finger at me and said, “The man don’t know how to shut off work. You’re giving him two weeks to fuck around and do nothing, and he’s about to lose his mind.”
I crossed my arms and leaned to one leg, not finding nearly as much amusement as they seemed to. The tension was too thick, and I honestly didn’t know how I was going to survive the next two weeks.
