She took care of a mini mansion and the four people who lived there, she ran her own business, she made love to me every night we were together, and she never complained about anything.

Except my affairs.

None of my mistresses were as strong as Chastity. None of them could do half the things she did. Before committing to her, when I had maids and cooks and whatnots, the mistresses were constantly lounging around the apartment, snapping their fingers, shouting orders.

I had a good woman, a once in a lifetime woman. Why did I still seek out the couple lovers I kept? What could they possibly provide my fiancée couldn’t?

“Hey, boss.”

Twisting my waist, I glanced at Wyatt strolling through the door. “What are you doing up?”

He paused, his hand still on the door, scratching at his bare chest. “It’s like…nine o’clock.”

My brows lifted and my attention snatched to the clock on the stove. “Oh, right. Yeah. So, uh. Ahem. Just to make sure, that thing with Jennifer, it’s taken care of?”

His hand slid away, and it swished back and forth. He went to the refrigerator and got himself a beer, cracking it open and taking a long swig. “Yup, she’s gone.”

“Where is she?”

“Lake Michigan, near Green Bay.”

“And she wasn’t pregnant?”

He snorted, taking another sip. “Not even close.”

My fingers splayed out, I lifted my brows. “You’re sure.”

“If she wasn’t, all that cocaine I found in her purse sure would have put a damper on the kid. Besides, she was ragging when I broke her neck. She lied, boss. What’s eating you? Why are we talking about this?”

I rolled a shoulder, taking another drink of the juice. “Chazzy’s in a weird mood and I…I dunno how to handle it.”

“What’s wrong?”

Leaning against the counter, I folded an arm over my stomach, resting my elbow on top. “She’s withdrawn. Wouldn’t let me kiss her, nothing.”

He coughed, shifting his weight, sipping his beer.

I squinted, waving the bottle in the air. “No one’s ever told me no. I mean, not a real no. I’ve heard lots of fake no’s because someone wanted me to try harder, but this was a flat out, don’t fucking touch me, no. What…what do you do under these circumstances?”

He blinked, fanning his arms to his sides. “What the hell, man?”

“What? She rejected you. How did you handle that?”

He grew visibly agitated, pacing back and forth at the end of the bar. “Why is she upset with you? Why did she reject you?”

I groaned and dropped the bottle to the counter, screwing the cap back on. “I’m not a hundred percent, but I’m sure it has something to do with my affairs.”

“Why won’t you just quit, Milo? I don’t understand it. Just knock it off.”

“I don’t know why I won’t stop!” I snapped back, throwing my hands up. “I…” Heaving a sigh, I folded my arms. “I’m just so used to having whatever I want and…this is all new territory to me.”

“And Chazzy’s not enough for you?”

I snorted, rolling my eyes. “Jesus Christ, man, you have no idea what that woman is capable of. I mean, sex with her is a goddamn sport. She takes me places I never knew existed.”

He cursed under his breath and downed the rest of his beer, flinging open the cabinet under the sink to throw the can away. “Then what’s the fucking problem?”

Pulling at my nape, I stared across the dimly lit kitchen. “I dunno. Maybe it’s habit. I can honestly tell you I barely enjoy the mistresses. I mean, I still get off, but it’s more of a task than fun.”
