In the morning, sun streams in the small attic window and I swear I’ve never been so disoriented in my life to find myself in bed naked with my best friend and now lover, Dani. She’s snuggled in the crook of my arm with her hand over my body, dangerously close to my morning wood and I wonder what time it is.

She opens her eyes when I move to look at my phone.

“Good morning gorgeous,” I say. “How do you feel?”

“Like queen of the universe, like a woman who has everything she ever wanted in life.”

“Serious answer,” I say. “Then I must be king.”

“And the big dipper must have finally poured out all our dreams.” Her giddy smile is infectious. I grin as I grip the phone and look at it.

“Fuck. It’s almost ten.” She sits up and the blankets fall away from her magnificent breasts and I almost drool as my dick stiffens and jumps. Fuck, I wish it wasn’t so late.

“We need to take a shower and get going,” she says, a not so innocent smile playing on her lips.

“You’re right.” I grin at her invitation and don’t waste another minute. I lift her from the bed and carry her to the en-suite bathroom as she giggles and nibbles on my earlobe. It’s the kind of thing I never knew would drive me wild, but it does because it’s her and everything she does is fucking sexy as hell.

She turns on the shower as soon as I put her down and she grabs a bar of soap.

“I’ve always wanted to do this,” she says and I’m not exactly sure what she has in mind, but I know I’m going to love it, know I’m going to lose it and I couldn’t be more ecstatic.

Turns out what she had in mind was going down on me and there isn’t a sexier picture on the planet than the one of her on her knees sucking my dick under the shower. Leaning against the tile I can barely stand as she brings me to a climax so hard and fast, my knees buckle and I shout out her name and a string of incoherent words telling her everything, baring my soul as I empty into her mouth and all over her gorgeous face.

Dragging her up from her knees I kiss her wet face, hold her and try to tell her with my body how I feel, to communicate in that way we always have with our actions, without speaking. And even though it’s been far from perfect in the past, I know she gets how I feel now, know what we have between us now and that it’s real. No pretending, no misunderstanding, no hesitating. Not anymore.

There’s a knock at the door as we’re finishing getting dressed, followed by a shouted reprimand. I open the door to find Glen grinning up at me decked out in street hockey gear.

“Dad says we can play street hockey after breakfast.”

“Sounds like fun. You’ll have to promise not to beat me too bad. Let me score at least one goal.” With an arm around Dani as she joins us, we go down stairs.

Sunday with Dani’s new family is surreal, but she glows with pleasure and though I’d like to take full credit for her glow, I know spending the time with her dad and siblings has to be part of it. The day begins with brunch, then street hockey as promised, where everyone plays except Maria, followed by a Boston Brawlers game on TV in the cozy living room with the boys on the floor, Walter in his recliner and Maria, me and Dani on the couch. We have with pizza on the coffee table and the afternoon glides by in a pleasant post-orgasmic haze with my sensual awareness of Dani growing by the minute. It isn’t until the third period with the game already won when I glance out the front window that I realize it’s snowing.

“Shit,” I say under my breath. Walter hears me an sees the snow.

“Hope it’s not a storm,” he says and switches the game to the weather channel causing Gary and Glen to groan though the Brawlers are ahead by four goals.

The weather man delivers the bad news that a snow storm is blanketing the region and bringing heavy snow with white out conditions that won’t stop until after midnight. I lower my head into my hands, and think, running through the solutions. Dani squeezes my hand. Leaving now won’t get us far as I look up again out the window. We both have things happening at school first thing in the morning. Neither of us can afford to not be there.

Mr. Innocent clears his throat. “The streets should be clean before the morning but you can’t leave tonight. You’re stuck in NYC for the night I’m afraid.” I nod.

“We’ll have to get up early and leave by four a.m. That will give us a chance to get back in time for our classes. Luckily I don’t have hockey in the morning tomorrow.” Thank fuck practice isn’t until the afternoon.

“It’s a plan then,” Dani says and her dad switches back to the Brawlers game. But I’m uneasy now as I watch the snow pile up and I feel Dani’s tension too.

Where bringing empty plates into the kitchen when my phone buzzes in my pocket. Putting the plates down on the counter, I slip the phone from my pocket. It’s Nate and he’s calling, not texting.

“What’s up?” Nate calls and tells him coach is running a team meeting at ten am and asks when he’ll be back.

“We can’t leave tonight because of white out conditions here.”

“You’d better get back early.

“We’ll have to wait it out. We’re planning to leave at four a.m.”

“Shit that’s cutting it close.”

“I know, but we’ll make it. I swear.”
