I nod at that, “Alright, perfect. Also I’m concerned I did not know you went and set everything up already. I thought for sure we were bringing everything with us.”

“Nope. I got it all set up for you. I thought we could eat and watch the sunset. It’ll be nice.”

“Wow, who would’ve thought the Rage I met two years ago could be so romantic.”

“I’m full of surprises, baby.”

He bends down and places peck on my lips before getting up on Whiskey Sunrise. I shake my head and hop on Maggie. We are quiet as we make our way across the property, not an awkward quiet, comfortable quiet that I have grown to love having with him. We feel at peace and safe with each other in a way that I never thought we would ever have. I never thought that this man would do a complete one eighty after everything that happened. Six months ago everything was still so up in the air, but now I can’t imagine not being like this with him.

As we get closer to the tree I gasp at what I see. He put up lights on the tree and there were nonflammable candles placed all around. I chuckle at that because we are making sure we don’t start fires. Very good thought process. He has a blanket laid out with pillows and food laid out. When we get there he hops off his horse and comes over to help me off of mine.

“Do you like it?” He asks and you can tell he isn’t feeling very confident about it, but I don’t know why.

I turn and grab his face, pulling him down to me and kiss him. When I pull away we are both trying to catch our breath.

“I love it. Thank you. I don’t even know when you had time to do this.”

He grabs my hand and walks me towards the blanket and sits down leaning against the pillows and putting me between his legs.

“I can’t believe you did all this. I mean jeez, if your brothers could see you now. Who would have thought, huh?”

“You deserve this and so much more, Rose. You are the best thing that ever happened to me. You’ve done so much for me and I don’t think I will ever be able to repay you. So doing things like this is not anywhere close to enough.”

I put a hand to my chest and dramatically threw my head back against his chest.

“Oh my, you make me swoon.”

“Oh shut up.”

I laugh and then turn my head and kiss his cheek.

“So what did you make me to eat ?”

“All your favorites, duh. But there is something very special inside that basket there.”

I give him a curious look before pulling the basket closer to us.

“I don’t know what could be better than all of this.” I point around at everything on the blanket and honestly I really don’t know. I’m going to have to ask him who helped him make all this shit and obviously someone brought it here recently because everything still looks warm.

I grab the basket and my heart pounds when I see a small jewelry box inside of it.

“Caleb?” I say slowly.

He reaches around me and picks up the box.

“So I’m not going to get down on one knee and ask because I’m sorry to say, you really don’t get to say no. It’s fucking happening.”

He opens the box and I gasp at the ring inside of it. I can’t believe what I am looking at and the fact that this man set all this up and picked out this ring. It is an oval-cut diamond. The center stone has to be about 2.5 to 3 carats. It is beautiful and elegant without being some gaudy looking thing you sometimes see on women. It is on a white gold band that is slim and there are tiny pave diamonds set along the top half of the ring. Underneath the center stone the basket holding the diamond is shaped with tiny delicate rose-petal details, it is almost invisible unless you look at it closely. There are also rubies inside the band underneath the diamond. It is fucking perfect. He plucks it out of the box and brings it up closer for me to look at.

“I worked with the jeweler and if you look closely with all these rose petal details you can find an R on one side of the setting and a C on the other side. Then on the inside of the band, I had him engrave it for me.”

He tips it and I read the engraving on the inside of the ring.

My home. My forever.

Tears start welling up in my eyes.

“Caleb, it’s perfect.”
