I swear, I'm bewitched.

She cast a spell on me from the moment she got here, and I don't ever want to find the remedy.

The door across the room opens, and the woman consuming my thoughts walks in wearing a pair of tight, fitted black shorts, a red cropped top, and a black cardigan over the top.

She tucks her pin-straight hair behind her ears, then slides her hands into her pockets, and moves around the table, taking steps toward me.

"I'm unsure what to do with myself," she says as she stops beside the sofa, drawing her lip between her teeth.

Oh, shit. Does she feel equally confused by the events of last night and this morning?

"Why?"

She shrugs. "I'm never usually here this early. So I don't know what to do."

Huffing out a laugh, I stand up and shake my head.

"You're not expected to work today, Red."

She frowns.

"Why not?"

Cocking a brow, I raise my hand, stroking my thumb against her cheek. Although she subtly winces from the pain, her eyes spark with anger.

"Are you kidding me?" She lets out a humorless laugh. "I'm still very much capable of working behind a fucking bar while having a bruised face. It doesn't stop me from doing anything."

"I know it doesn't, but yesterday was a lot. We thought you'd want some time to deal with it all."

"I've been dealing with this shit my whole life, Reeve! It's nothing new to me. I don't need time to deal with it, and I can't let it interfere with the good, stable parts of my life. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going downstairs to start working."

She spins around and storms to the stairs, hands fisted at her side.

I watch her leave, waiting until she's disappeared before I move my hand to my crotch, rearranging my half-mast dick.

Holy shit, Trix is sexy as hell when she's mad.

Chapter Twenty-Nine

Trix

"Is it true we finally have a woman joining us at the clubhouse long-term?" Luxe asks, as he sits down at the bar with a bag of chips in his hand.

"Nope."

Grabbing a chilled beer, I uncap it, then slide it over to him.

Frowning, he gulps half the beer down.

"So, you're not staying here?"

I sigh, running the damp cloth over the bar's surface, cleaning the sticky mess Chad left behind.

"I am staying here, yes. Not long term though," I tell him. "Just until I can figure something else out."

His eyes run over my face, and his lips thin.

"You're not thinking of going back, are you?"
