Before Carter knew what she was planning, she drove the heel of her shoe into Todd’s butt.
Between screams of agony, Todd squeezed a few words out. “He went to his parents’ beach house.”
Julie jumped off the bed and reached for a piece of paper and pen. Then she thrust it at Todd. “Write down the address.”
Todd complied quickly. He’d finally gotten the message that neither Carter nor Julie were bluffing.
“Here.”
Julie looked at the address, then at Carter. “That’s in Long Beach. We need transportation.”
Carter glanced around and saw a car key on the desk. He snatched it. “You won’t mind us borrowing your car, will you, Todd? It’s not like you can drive in your condition.”
Todd didn’t protest.
“Where is it parked?” Julie asked.
“Just outside on the street.”
Julie looked at Carter and reached for the key. “I know how to get there. I’m driving.” Carter gave her the key, and she handed him the black time travel watch. “A BMW, nice.” With a look at Todd she added, “I’ll try not to get any scratches on it, but I have to warn you, I’m terrible at parking. And not that good at driving either.”
Todd’s horrified look was priceless.
Julie was already heading to the door. Carter followed her then looked over his shoulder and gave him one more warning.
“If you tell Steve that we’re coming, or if he’s gone when we get there, I’ll be back.”
