“You’re impossible.”

“So I’ve been told.”

Skull pushed the wheelchair closer.

Ashland looked over his shoulder. “No.”

Skull stared at him. “Sit your ass down.”

“No.”

“You’re sweating.”

“It’s warm out,” he shrugged.

Shay stuck her finger in the air. “It is sixty-eight degrees.”

“Babe, your finger tell you that?” Prime asked.

I covered my mouth and tried not to let a laugh escape. I was the only one who tried not to laugh.

Pearl pulled out her phone and swiped a couple of times. Her jaw dropped. “It is sixty-eight degrees.”

Prime blinked rapidly and looked proud. “Well, damn. My baby is a little barometer.”

“Thermometer,” Piney grunted with his head under the hood. “Now if she can tell me when it’s going to rain, then she is a barometer.”

Shay grabbed her boobs and looked up at the sky. “I think we’re in the clear for the next twenty-four hours, but I think a strong storm is moving in.”

Pearl tipped her head to the side. “I did not know your tits can tell when it’s going to rain.”

Shay shrugged and dropped her hands. “I didn’t know either. I’m pretty sure Piney is going to shit himself if it rains tomorrow.”

“Jesus Christ,” Anchor mumbled.

I wrinkled my nose and looked at Ashland. “I did not expect any of this when I crossed the bridge. You guys live in your own little world.”

“Things sure did change when the girls got to the island,” Prime said.

Ash shifted his weight, and a grimace crossed his face.

“Sit down before you fall down,” I said firmly. He made his point that he was home. Now he needed to sit down before the guys had to pick him up off the gravel parking lot.

His eyebrows lifted. “Bossy.”

“Only when I know what I’m talking about.”

He stared at me for a good ten seconds, and then he finally reached behind him and grabbed the wheelchair arm.

Skull immediately locked it in place.

Ashland lowered himself into it slowly, and I pretended not to notice how much relief crossed his face once he was sitting.

He looked toward the RV again. “What happened?”

I folded my arms. “It died.”

“Good explanation.” Ashland looked at the guys. “What do we know?”
