Then the tip of him nudged me, waited until I released my breath, then slid inside me with one deep thrust.

My moan mingled with his groan as he filled me completely.

“You feel so good,” he groaned, his hips doing a small thrust as my body grew used to the shape of him inside.

It wasn’t long before my hips were rocking, before my little whimpers grew to needy moans.

“Shh,” he murmured, his hand slapping over my mouth, muffling my cries as he started to thrust.

Slow and deep at first, but faster and harder with each passing moment.

“Wrap your leg around me,” he demanded, guiding it around his lower back.

Once it was hooked, he grabbed the other, pulling it up, then pressing me harder against the wall as he fucked me faster.

I tightened around him, my breath catching, my muscles shaking.

“That’s it,” he groaned, his forehead on my shoulder. “Let me feel you come.”

The release surged like a wave, crashing over and over as I gasped for breath, clinging to him.

Gav groaned, working me through it before thrusting hard and deep, body tensing as he came with me.

We stayed just like that afterward, bodies close, ragged breaths echoing back to us in the small space.

It wasn’t until we heard the door open to the facility that we broke apart, both of us putting ourselves back together.

Gav sent me a smirk that had my already pink cheeks flaming hot as we turned off the lights then went to the door.

“Here, you keep this somewhere safe,” he said, handing the key to me after closing and locking the garage door.

I had gotten to know him well enough at this point to read through the lines. To hear the things he would never say because he knew it would make me panic. You should have this in case we never find your father.

He wasn’t going to pull some mafia-capo thing and take all the money back for himself. He wanted me to have it.

As if I needed more reasons to like the guy.

“What do you want to do now?” Gav asked as we walked out of the storage facility. “Do you want to go check out the other units? Go back to the house and go through it? It’s up to you.”

“If it’s up to me,” I said, nearly choking on the anxiety that came with what I was about to say, “then I’d like to go back to the city,” I said. “To your apartment,” I added.

His eyes warmed at that.

“To order junk food and read our books?”

Leaning my head into his shoulder as we waited for our ride, I smiled.

“Among other things.”

CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

Gavino

I didn’t have a good feeling about her old man. Too much shit wasn’t adding up. No evidence of him in the woods, a secret house, secret girlfriend, secret storage units, secret cash.

And, sure, he’d been working for me. But I could understand why he kept that from his daughter. I didn’t understand why he wouldn’t tell her he bought a house that was basically in her backyard. Especially when that woman worshipped the man. That made no fucking sense to me.

Was Caitlin just looking at her father through rose-colored glasses? Had there always been some secrecy in their relationship that she didn’t notice? Or had something changed recently?
