He reached down and pulled me up. “Don’t leave me,” he whispered, repeating my words.

“Never,” I promised and meant it.

We headed for my bike as I prayed I’d hear news soon. Hopefully, Sapphire had found Kiki. If she died because of me, I don’t think Blue would ever recover.

Susan was sitting up and couldn’t stop apologising.

“Hey, Susan, stop. You were unable to do anything,” I interrupted.

“But if I’d got the door…”

“No. It wouldn’t have made a difference. The doctor said they’re keeping you in overnight for a concussion, but they’ll discharge you tomorrow. I’ll put you up in a hotel until the house is released.”

“No, I can sleep at a friend’s—”

“You won’t!” I exclaimed. “You and Aunt Kiki will go to a hotel while we tidy up the house and secure it.”

“No, they won’t.” Nun interrupted. “Sapphire has Kiki. Sailor’s bringing Kiki in, and she’s mainly unharmed. The club is escorting her. Loretta had her.”

“That bitch…” I broke off and shut my mouth with a sideways glance at Susan.

“Is she really unhurt?” Susan said.

“Yes, our medic, Stitch, looked her over.”

Nun held my eyes. Kiki had been injured, and Stitch had healed her. That’s what she couldn’t say. I nodded slowly.

“We have a house we rent out; it’s free. You and Kiki can go there until her home is repaired and straightened up. Plus, you’re going away to the resort next week. In fact, I’ll contact Belladonna, who runs it, and see if you can all go early.”

“Oh, we hadn’t finished packing! We still had some items to purchase,” Susan exclaimed.

“I’m sure Wylde will collect your cases, and you can buy the rest in Wolfeboro,” Nun said.

I read between the lines. Sapphire had done something to the Gerrits and wanted us out of the way in case of retaliation. Just another typical day in the life of the Royal Harlots.

Chapter Twelve.

I was beyond tired when I got back. Blue refused to leave Kiki and had stayed the night at the hospital. I couldn’t blame him. Belladonna had agreed to let them arrive early while we cleaned up the messes we’d left behind. Now I had to deal with Priest.

This would be an uncomfortable conversation.

Brielle was skittering around the clubhouse. Priest had taken her shopping for clothes, and the kid was buzzing. I didn’t know how Brielle had managed it, trekking across state after state, but she’d been able to maintain her innocence and sweetness. I caught Priest’s eye and jerked my head.

He nodded, settled Brielle down with a tablet, and followed me outside. He wore jeans and a tee today with his cut.

“What’s your plan?” I asked when he joined me.

“For?”

“Well, you and Brielle can’t stay in that apartment forever.”

“This is you kicking us out?” Priest queried, amused.

“No. Tell me your plans.”
