Knox shrugs, and Bennett shakes his head. “No.”
Knox gives him a look. “Don’t lie to her.”
Bennett grimaces. “Fine, yes, we were standing by your door.”
I lean back in my chair. “What are you two doing?”
“Nothing,” Bennett says.
Knox looks at me. “Are you okay?”
Bennett sits down in one of the vacant chairs by my desk. “Do you need anything?”
Knox stands beside my desk, his eyebrows drawn together. “Have you eaten?”
Bennett looks down at my feet. “You should probably put your feet up.”
My mouth falls open. These two are ridiculous.
Knox gestures toward the door. “Do you want to go home?”
I stare at both of them and shake my head. “No.”
Bennett’s forehead creases. “You sure?”
I push back from my desk and stand as both men move toward me at the same time.
I hold up a hand. “Stop.”
They stop, but they’re both holding their hands out as if they’re expecting me to fall or something. I put my hands on my hips. “I am four months pregnant.”
Knox smiles. “We know. Four months and twenty days.”
I roll my eyes. “You guys have got to settle down. We have months of this, and you’re both treating me like I’m an invalid.”
Bennett crosses his arms over his chest. “You’re carrying our baby.”
I look at the marks I’ve made on my calendar. “You two have checked on me approximately forty-seven times today.”
Knox looks at me. “You’re keeping track?”
I point at him. “It was sixty-five times yesterday.”
He looks at Bennett with disgust. “We’re slacking.”
I try to stay annoyed, but it’s hard. These two men love me, and they don’t just say it, they show it in everything they do.
A year ago, I was terrified of my own last name. I never felt safe, but my life has completely changed since I became a Kingston. I have a job I love, two men that love me, a father-in-law that dotes on me now, a mother-in-law that just enjoys being with me, a brother, and a sister-in-law that treats me like I’ve been in her family forever. I couldn’t ask for a better life than the one that Bennett and Knox have given me.
I rest my hand over the small swell of my stomach, and both of their eyes drop to it immediately.
We don’t know which one of them is the biological father, and we will probably never know. It doesn’t matter because this baby will have two dads that love him or her.
Knox walks toward me and places his hand over mine. “You tired?”
“No.”
Bennett steps up on my other side. “Hungry?”
