Her cheeks went pink and if she were a cartoon character he would see steam coming from her ears. Her finger poked him in the chest and damn if it didn’t make his dick harder.

“You don’t own me, buddy.”

“The fuck I don’t. You work for me, Val.”

“Exactly. I work for you and we both know if it was Lotus or Duchess, or hell, even Snow, you’d let them go.”

“That’s different.”

Their voices had risen with each sentence until the whole world could probably hear them yelling.

“Why? Because I’m useless without Scout and Monty beside me? Is that it?”

Her eyes flickered, her whole face was alive with passion and fury and it was the most beautiful thing he’d ever seen. He couldn’t have stopped what happened next if he’d had a gun to his head.

His control snapped and he slammed his lips down on hers, forcing her mouth to open as her hands threaded through his hair, tugging as he fucked her mouth with his tongue. It was brutal and raw, nothing sensual or gentle about this kiss. It was tongues and teeth and hunger, both fighting for dominance and he loved it. She tasted like cherries and sin and he cupped her ass in his hands, boosting her up and slamming her against the wall.

A moan of pleasure worked its way up her throat and he squeezed her gorgeous fleshy ass in his big hands. Her teeth nipped his lip and he growled as she rocked her hips against his straining cock, which was trying to break through the denim of his jeans. She was fucking perfect and he knew he was fucked. Because now he knew what it was like to kiss her, to feel her, he’d never be able to walk away.

Lifting his head he rested it against her forehead as they both panted, her tits pushing against his chest with every breath. He knew it was time to lay it all out there for her. He owed her that. “Because I would never let the woman who owns my heart anywhere near the man who destroyed my family.”

“Oh.”

He should put her down, but having her in his arms felt so right and he didn’t want to let her go. Not now, not ever, but he had to finish this first.

“We should probably….”

He released her, letting her slide down his body as his breath hissed between his teeth at the contact.

“So does this mean you’re ready to admit what we have and move forward together?”

Her voice wobbled but her head was tilted up with sure confidence and he wasn’t sure he could love her more than he did right then. This was the first time he was allowing himself to really feel but looking back, he knew he’d felt it every day and had ignored it.

He must have hesitated too long.

“You know what, forget it.”

Val moved to storm past him but he grabbed her arm and hauled her back to his body. “Don’t act like a spoiled child, Val. I was just thinking. Can you allow me a minute to gather my thoughts after that kiss?”

She pouted but shrugged. “I guess.”

He was about to dip his head and kiss the pout from her face when Lotus rushed back into the room.

“The guys found this at the gate.”

She held up a small bouquet of pink, white, and lilac sweet peas.

Bás moved to take it from her, his gut twisting with the meaning. He glanced at Val who’d lost all colour from her cheeks and couldn’t hold back the growl in his chest. “Motherfucker.”

“What is it? Apart from the obvious fact he found us.” Lotus had her hands on her hips as Hurricane and Rykov rushed in to catch the question.

“Sweet peas are my favourite flower.”

He’d known that because he’d paid attention to everything she liked, but apparently, so had someone else. “Shit. That means he’s been watching you.” Bás felt fear clawing at his insides as he thrust the flowers at Lotus. “Get rid of these and get ready to move. We can’t stay here.” He looked at Hurricane and Rykov. “Make sure nothing is left.”

When a safe house got burned, he literally burned it to the ground so not even a shred of evidence could be found.

“On it.”
