“Of course not, we are men, the hairy hunter.”

“You gonna club me over the head and drag me back to your cave?”

“No, I want you wide awake when I carry you back to my cave. But I would suggest we try and get a few hours of sleep while we can.”

The plane taxied down the runway and, in minutes, they lifted into the sky as smoothly as silk. Hurricane was one of the best pilots in the world, and the fact that he had been discharged from the military for what amounted to an act of heroism was a travesty. Their loss was Shadow’s gain, but she knew he missed flying as much as he had before and was glad he could do this, she just hated the reason why.

“Come on.”

Gideon unbuckled her seat belt as they reached cruising altitude and led her toward the back.

She eyed the bed and cocked a brow at him, but her body was already getting on board with this plan.

“Don’t look at me like that, my intentions are noble, I’m gonna hold you safe while you sleep.”

“Tease.” She winked and climbed on the bed, making sure to give him a nice view of her ass in these jeans as she did. A swat on her butt made her yelp before his arms came around her waist. She lay beneath him, his hard body hovering over her as he gazed down at her.

“No teasing, Cookie. I just want to look after you but later, when you’re rested, I have every intention of blowing your mind and wiping away every thought in your pretty little head.”

“Yeah, how you gonna do that?” Her voice was husky and aroused and she could feel his cock, hard and wanting against her belly.

His nose skimmed her neck and he sniffed, before placing a kiss behind her ear. “I could tell you, but I’m not going to. You can close those beautiful eyes instead and dream of it, while I hold you.”

Duchess wanted to argue, but a giant yawn hit her and she couldn’t.

Gideon turned them so she was tucked into him, her back to his front, his arm over her middle, his biceps under her head.

“It’s gonna involve sweatpants.”

“What is?”

“My dream.”

Gideon chuckled as he smoothed her hair back from her face, his lips finding her cheek.

“Whatever you want, Nadia. I have a feeling I would give you just about anything.”

Those were the last words she heard before sleep claimed her.

She had to admit the sleep had done her the world of good. Landing in Naples, they took a car Bás had hired for them, and Gideon drove towards the town where her mother had lived and worked most of her life. The fifteen years in the United Kingdom, raising Duchess with her father, the only time she had been away.

“This is a beautiful area.”

She glanced across at Gideon, his hands firm on the steering wheel, his forearm muscle shifting as he drove, and her body tingled with the need to feel his hands on her skin; not just his hands but all of him, everywhere.

“Nadia?”

She shook off the thought. “Sorry what?”

“This place, it’s beautiful.”

“It really is perfect although I sometimes believe it was leaving the place she loved that caused my parents’ divorce.”

“Yeah?”

Duchess nodded as the scenery sped past them.
