“Fuckhead,” CJ spat.

“Shut up, CJ!” Diesel responded, his hands shaking. “Answer me, Torrin.”

“I told her she thinks she’s special but she’s already shown us her body, Diesel. I thought she’d know I meant her revealing clothes. It never occurred to me she’d think I watched her.”

Growling, Diesel flung the shuriken. It hurtled over the side of Torrin’s face, slicing the skin open. Blood poured down his cheek; he grunted.

“Fuck,” Ryan breathed, his voice trembling.

The blade landed in Torrin’s shoulder. H sucked in a breath.

“One warning, Torrin. That was it,” Diesel announced. “You’re my best friend,” he said again.

“I did tell her that Kaia wouldn’t want to hold her hand forever,” Torrin managed, not trying to staunch the flow of blood running down his face or remove the blade.

“You should’ve told me. I wouldn’t have doubled your punishment.”

“Why don’t we have this conversation elsewhere?” Narci suggested, paler than Torrin as if he hadn’t fucking remembered Diesel’s insanity. “Torrin needs stitching up.”

Diesel nodded and walked to where the shuriken had lodged itself in the wall near the bathrooms. He yanked it out of the wood then nodded to his blade. “When you remove that, clean it and bring it to me.”

“We should check on Rebel, C.” Rory’s voice reached CJ through his shock. “After everything else that’s happened, she’s probably upset over Fia and Kaia.”

“Wait, Rebel knows I went to Fia’s?” Kaia asked, panicked. “I didn’t do anything with her, though.”

“Dude, is that what the fuck you’re getting out of this shit?” Ryan asked incredulously as Torrin followed Huck through the archway. “I think that’s the least of her worries right now. Her perception of herself—”

“Rebel isn’t gross. Even if I’d seen the videos, which I haven’t, she wouldn’t be gross to me,” Kaia said.

“Did Rebel say she hated me, CJ?” Diesel asked warily, throwing the damp towel on the bar.

“Rebel isn’t thinking clearly enough to hate anyone,” CJ said flatly.

“I’ll talk to her.” Diesel righted a bar stool and slid onto it. “Tell her the truth.”

“Please don’t,” CJ said. “Especially not tonight. Let her rest.”

It was his fault she’d had to face Rory again over those videos. If Rory’s presence hadn’t annoyed CJ so much, he would’ve offered a truce and got the fuck out of there. But, no, he’d been a selfish, entitled prick. He glanced around the club again and grimaced.

Fuck. His entire body was aching and he needed to see to Rebel. He didn’t want Diesel near her. Motherfucker should move to the treehouse with his drug addicted fiancée.

Fuckhead.

“CJ, Diesel, go see to your injuries,” Potter instructed. “We’ll see to this. I’ll get a few other brothers out here.”

“Wait a fucking minute,” Narci started. “I shouldn’t have to clean their mess.”

“That’s Outlaw’s sons, dude,” Seven said. “Until he comes back and decides what to do to them, we have to send them home so they can patch up.”

Gazing into her husband’s eyes as he held her in his arms, Meggie wrapped her arms around his neck, singing the words to Meant To Be by Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line. Halfway through All My Life by K-Ci and Jo Jo, he picked her up.

Roxy had introduced Meggie to that song years ago, and she’d loved it ever since.

Above them, the night sky stretched endlessly, dotted with stars that gleamed like diamonds. Camping lights bathed Christopher and allowed his brilliant green eyes to mesmerize her. The temperature should’ve had her shivering from the cold. Instead, heat blazed through her. Because of Christopher, and her love and desire for him.

Out here on the road, with just the two of them, everything else seemed like a distant dream. All the trials and tribulations of the past weeks. Torie. Rule. Jo. CJ. Rebel. Jana. The bikers and their treatment.

“My turn,” Christopher murmured, brushing his lips across hers as the Work Song by Hozier blasted over her MP3 player.
