I don’t purr.
I growl because then she will remember that I’m here to fight. That I will always be on her side. That I will make her feel good with savage desperation, with ruthless certainty. She is mine.
And I…I have been hers from the moment I first saw her, when I dropped to my knees and thanked a god I don’t believe in for giving me such a precious gift.
I meant it then.
I mean it more now.
When her orgasm subsides, I knot her. Forcing my thick flesh into her tiny hole, it feels impossible, but when I’m there, pleasure nerves sing. Waves of ecstasy rush through me, making my toes curl. My eyes roll, and I strain to get even further into her as I fill her up, making her inside and out.
I yank her head back and slam our mouths together, tasting the blood of our pack.
“I’m never letting you go,” I growl. “Not ever. The world can burn, but I won’t ever let you go.”
She sobs, her body shaking, twitching, and slowly relaxing into me.
My knot goes down, and I calm, reaching for the blindfold, letting the world back in. King, Sage, and Rose are on the porch.
Blaze is sitting not far from us, looking stunned. Pix is staring at me warily.
I look down at my omega and see all the blood, and I just panic. I pull out of her and reach out with shaking hands.
She rolls languidly to her side and starts to purr.
“You’ve been keeping secrets, Rolly.”
I stare at her, mapping the bite marks on her body, gauging her happiness.
“Are you good?”
“You are going to feed me, kiss me, help me shower, and then, Alpha, you are going to do that again.”
I get to my knees as she stands.
“Have I told you lately how perfect you are?” I say with complete honesty.
She sways towards me, her hips twitching, dangerous, deadly, ready for anything. Raptor.
“Of course, I’m perfect for you. Why would fate give me someone who can’t handle me?”
And that is a question that settles the fear and anxiety and returns to me my dark confidence.
Pix slings an arm over her shoulder and gives me a saucy look. “Hey, Alpha?”
I look up.
He waves my flag panties in his fingers.
“I won.”
Roseland
It doesn’t matter how many times I go over the information, I can’t make it fit, and I can’t sleep while the threat remains against her. Last night, while Sage was keeping her busy, Rolly, Pix, and I went out to check out the names on the list.
Of the eight names, there wasn’t a single person who could be Father. One is sick with an illness that makes physical movement hard and painful. One has a beta he lives with all the time and has done for the last three years. Another was out of the country. Two more of them were sick in hospital during the periods we are looking at. There was a movie star who was on set, and the last person had an airtight alibi working for the paramedics on shift.
We went over it, again.
