Actually, scratch that. This is definitely a place where Will would get married.
“Is this the honeymoon suite?” I ask one of the event organizers who has been following me around like I might steal something.
My dad might be in lockup for jacking cars, and I might not have the perfect history, but, Christ, my salary can afford a Jo Malone hand soap.
The blonde woman, who is dressed in a black pencil skirt and a white blouse, smiles at me and walks toward the huge window, which gives a great view of downtown Seattle from a distance.
I won’t lie; she’s hot, even if she isn’t my type.
“No, this is a standard tree house. From here, you can upgrade your room to a deluxe, an exclusive junior suite or the honeymoon suite.”
I nod once, impressed at the whole setup they have going on here.
“Are you a wedding guy?”
She flutters her eyelashes at me, and I pull down on the bill of my black Rogues cap. It’s clear this woman knows who I am, so I’m surprised she’s asking such a personal question.
That said, according to the media, I’ve been single since dinosaurs roamed the earth, so her question is valid. I guess people might wonder if I even have a heart.
“Ehh.” I scrub a palm along my jaw, eyes briefly flicking to her.
She holds up a hand. “Forgive me. That was rude and invasive. I get used to meeting people who can’t get enough of romance and weddings.” She chuckles. “Just like your teammate downstairs.”
I smirk at that, walking toward the window. Mason is leaning against the rope while Will talks him through something. I can tell by the way he flails his arms everywhere that he’s excited.
“I wouldn’t say that I don’t believe in love or a happily ever after. I just haven’t ever had the chance to experience it.”
She glances down at the iPad she’s been carrying around with her since we arrived.
“Jesus,” I blow out. “Somehow, this tour has turned into a therapy session too.”
She bursts out laughing, a glint in her brown eyes when she looks at me again.
Fuck. Does she think I’m flirting with her?
I clear my throat, feeling like a jackass for what I’m about to say next.
“Being totally honest, I am sort of seeing someone, although it’s nothing official.”
The woman, with Chloe on her name badge, tips her head to one side, intrigued.
Nice work, Silas. Just start telling flat-out lies about your love life.
“Can I ask who the lucky lady is?”
I knew that question was coming. Thank fuck Will insisted that the staff sign NDAs.
Fuck it. I’ve dipped my toe in the bullshit pool, so might as well go the whole way and take a bath.
“When I say seeing someone, I mean that I want to date her. Our situation isn’t your regular scenario.”
Now Chloe looks really intrigued. “Is she already married?”
I balk. “What? No. She isn’t married. More like she’s my brother’s ex-girlfriend.”
I swear to God, Chloe almost drops her iPad. “Wait, seriously?”
Rather than take in the horror strewn across her face, I stare out over the landscape. “How much can I trust you with, Chloe? I know you signed an NDA, but I could actually use a female point of view.”
