She bites her lip. “Are you gonna stand over here in the corner all night?”

“Maybe.” I shrug.

She cocks her brow before taking my hand. “Let’s go.”

“I’m good.”

She jerks hard on my arm. “Come with me.”

Now, that sounds like a plan. “If you insist.” I follow her to the kitchen, where she makes us a Whiskey Sour with O’Daly’s. I already like her more than I should.

“Here ya go.” She hands me the red cup. “This should take the edge off.”

“I’m sure it will.”

The corner of her mouth quirks. “What is it?”

I shake my head. “Nothing.”

“Over here, I want you to meet my friends.” She points across the room. “Hey, guys. This is Lennox.”

I nod. “Hi.”

“Carla.” A chestnut-haired girl smiles. “Just Lennox, or do you have a last name?”

“Daly,” I say as Robin’s eyes widen. “Yours?”

“Wait…” Robin grins, holding her cup up, “…as in … O’Daly’s?”

“Yes. Is that a problem?” I search her eyes, hoping to see she’s okay with this or if she was planning it. One, Lachlan, and I tend to get people who are only around for the money, and that never turns out well.

“Not at all.” She winks, offering her hand. “Robin Toler.”

I take her hand with a sly grin. “It’s good to meet you, Robin.” Two years. For two years. I’ve waited for her to notice me, and here I am, holding her hand in mine. I never want to let go.

“Don’t mind us. We’ll be here when y’all get finished or need a drink … maybe a cigarette.” Marla snickers. “Do you have a condom?”

“Smartass.” Robin elbows her as I laugh. “Don’t mind her; she has crabs.” Carla sticks her tongue out. “Apparently, she also sucks.”

“Shut up!” Marla pushes on Robin’s shoulder.

Robin giggles. “Quieten down, my little strumpet.”

“Screw you.” Marla winks at me. “You’re too good for her.”

“I hope you’re best friends.”

“We are,” they say in unison.

“The worst best friends ever!” Marla cackles as another girl joins us, making me do a double take.

“Have you never seen twins?” she giggles. “I’m Carla, Marla’s twin.”

I offer my hand. “I know a thing or two about twins.”

“Oh, do tell?” She smirks.

I finish my drink with a grin. “Well, they say my brother and I are the world’s worst twins, so there’s that.”

“I doubt it,” Robin bumps into me. “you look like you’re close.”

“Not really, but that’s not a party story.”

Robin gazes at me for a split second. “You’re right. Let’s get another drink.”
