I choke, holding back my laughter. “Asshole! I thought you were giving me some kind of life-altering advice!”

“Baby, you crawl back into bed with him and tell me if your life doesn’t change.” She snickers.

“Yeah, well, he’s hot, and I’m not … right now anyway.”

“I don’t think he cares, so, why do you?”

“Damn you to hell, Mils.” She’s killing me. “I’m wearing sweats and an old shirt, besides the rest of my mess.”

She smacks her lips. “He didn’t mind it last night, and I doubt that’s changed.”

“Millie, I think…” I release a breath I think I’ve held for sixteen years.

“That was a teen angst sigh right there, girl,” she laughs. “I know what’s happening, and I’m positive Lennox knows; now allow yourself to fall.”

“I already have.”

“I’ll be home later, I’ll call then,” she says. “Love you.”

“I love you, be careful.” I end the call, tiptoeing back into the bedroom.

Lennox is still sleeping soundly as I breeze into the bathroom. I freshen up because, well, if he’s going to lay there like that, then I’m going to straighten my colossal mess.

I ease over, slipping into bed with him. As soon as I settle in, he rolls over, wraps his arm around me, and pulls me to him. I’ve never been held so tightly, like I’m a lifeline. Before I know it, I’m sound asleep again.

“Lola.” a low, sweet murmur whirls around me. “Come on, sleepy head.”

I gaze over my shoulder, finding a smiling face. “Good morning.”

“Afternoon, actually.” He scratches his face.

I sit straight up. “Afternoon?” I check my phone, it’s two o’clock.

“It was a long night, and you needed the rest.”

I fall backward, stretching. “I’ve never slept this late in my life.”

“I can’t say the same thing, but I haven’t slept this sound in a long time.”

“I hope that’s a good thing.”

He raises up on his elbow, staring down at me. “Please tell me you don’t wake this beautiful every morning, because so far, you’re three for three.”

“I do what I can to make the world a better place.”

His hand grazes my jaw, just below my ear. “Damn good job.”

“Yeah, I can see it all rests on my shoulders.” My eyes blaze a path down his body. “Shame, all of this is wasted on little ol’ me.”

He shifts in the bed, throwing the cover back. “Fine, I’ll take the trash out already.”

“Hey!” I grip his wrist, pulling him back down. “Get back here.”

He falls on top of me. “Gladly.” His mouth takes mine in a torrent of desire.

I lace my fingers behind his head, holding him to me. I refuse to leave this moment for anything, I only want him here with me and to shut the world out. He gradually frees me, hovering over me as he steals my heart and wrecks my soul.

“How are you feeling?”
