“Only because of my fortune,” I told her. “In all honesty, if I weren’t rich, I’d probably be single forever. All the Littles at home care about is the money, and I know many friends who have had the same issues. Very few of us have been lucky enough to find our forever Little.” She frowned in confusion.

“Like Xavier?” she asked, and I nodded.

“Yes, Xavier is one of the lucky ones,” I admitted. “Your sister never cared about the money and insisted on working, even if they didn’t need the money. She claims it was because she wanted to help Skye and Derek. I think it was because she didn’t want Xavier thinking she was using him the way his ex turned out to be.” I sighed and shook my head. “Derek was another one who got lucky. Skye was extremely well off, but her family borrowed money from him rather than consulting her, and she went to pay him back. After they got to know each other, she ended up staying, and they’ve been together ever since.” Rachel smiled and shook her head.

“You make it sound like a fairytale,” she said as she stared down at the bed. “A beautiful fairytale with princes and princesses.” I scoffed and shook my head.

“Those who get lucky enough to find their forever Littles do live in a fairytale,” I told her. “The Littles are always looking for something other than love.” I sighed and shook my head. “If you don’t mind me asking, how did you end up becoming Victor’s Little?” She sighed and shook her head.

“We went to the same high school and college,” she admitted. “Once we graduated college, he said he loved me and wanted to take care of me for the rest of my life. He paid off my student loans and told me that I never had to work again, and he did everything he could to show me he loved me. After seeing everything he was doing to show his love, I finally caved in and agreed, and he made me his Little. Life was pretty good for at least three years until his job and alcohol ruined him and caused.….” She stopped and stared at her unmarked cast, which was pure white. “I didn’t even care about the lavish lifestyle, even though it was nice at first to not have to worry about anything. However, after a while, I found that the lavish lifestyle was just a cover-up.” I shook my head.

“That’s how a lot of Daddies operate,” I told her. “It’s sad, but it’s true.” She was about to say something when there was a knock on the door. Thinking Derek might have left something, I motioned for her to wait there while I went to answer it. As soon as I opened the door, I came face to face with a strange man I had never seen before.

“Excuse me, sir,” he said as he smiled politely at me. “My girlfriend escaped the hospital, and I’m looking for her. Have you seen this woman?” He held up his phone and showed me a picture of him and Rachel, and I immediately knew that this must be Victor.

“Oh, sorry, sir, I haven’t,” I said as I started to close the door. He stopped me, keeping the same charming smile on his face.

“Well, maybe your companion has,” he said as he started to push through. When I didn’t move out of his way, he rolled his eyes and shook his head. “Rachel, I already saw you in there. I just want to talk.” I narrowed my eyes at him.

“Look here, man,” I started until I felt a tiny hand on my shoulder. Rachel bravely stepped out from behind me and stared at her abusive ex.

“Look, Victor,” she said in a low, dangerous voice I never thought her capable of. “It’s over. I’m not staying with you anymore.”

CHAPTER SEVEN

Rachel

Victor stood there, staring at me in shock and disbelief as the words continued to hang in the air. I could barely believe that I had even managed to say the words, but now that they were in the open, there was no taking them back. It was time to get this done and over with, like ripping off a bandage.

“Rachel, let’s talk about this,” Victor said as he shook his head, getting over the initial shock of my words. I shook my head insistently at him.

“No, Victor,” I insisted. “There’s no talking about it. I’ve made up my mind, and I’m leaving.” Anger flashed in his eyes as he stared me down.

“Where will you go?” he asked as he stared at me. “You don’t have a dime to your name, nor do you have any work experience.” I shook my head.

“That’s none of your business,” I told him, standing my ground. “All you need to know is that I’m leaving you, and there's nothing you can do to stop me.” He shook his head at me.

“The hell there isn’t,” he said as he glared at me, and panic started to overtake me as he reached for my arm. “You’re coming home right now, so we can talk about this.” I shook my head as I pulled away.

“No, I’m not!” I shouted, and I retreated into the room. Victor started to follow me, but Tristan got in his way. Victor stopped and glared at him.

“Move it,” he said as he glared at the much smaller Tristan. “This doesn’t concern you.” Tristan stood his ground.

“Actually, it does,” Tristan snapped as he stared at Victor. “This is my hotel room, which means you’re trespassing, and I already know the police are aware that you have no business near this woman. That means, if I call the police, they’ll be here in just a few minutes to cart you away and lock you up.” Victor smirked at Tristan.

“The police aren’t going to do anything,” he smirked as he glared dangerously at Tristan. “Not only do I have them wrapped around my little finger, but I would still have more than enough time to beat your ass and leave with my girlfriend.” Victor started towards Tristan, but Tristan didn’t budge.

“Good luck,” he smirked as he crouched low, almost like a boxer on TV. “The bigger they are, the harder they fall.” Victor looked confused for a moment, but that only bought Tristan a second before he attacked.

Victor lunged at Tristan, but with three quick swings that were done before I could even blink, I saw Victor’s eyes roll back into the back of his head, and he dropped like a sack of lead. I stood there, frozen in fear, as the door to the other room opened, and Xavier stepped into the room. He stopped when he saw Victor lying on the ground, and he smiled a little at his brother.

“Well, shit, Tristan,” he said as he stared at them in disbelief. “You didn’t kill him, did you?” Tristan rolled his eyes and shook his head.

“No, of course not,” he said as he looked at Xavier. “I do recommend we get out of here, though. I don’t know how he found us, but he came for Rachel.” Stephanie peeked her head out from the other room, froze, and stared at them in disbelief.

“Oh my God,” she breathed before coming towards me. “Are you okay? Did he hurt you?” I shook my head.

“No, I’m fine,” I reassured her as I smiled gratefully at Tristan. “Thank you.” Tristan smiled and shook his head.
