“Sort of.” Ember rubs her ear.
“Well, don’t worry. You’ll get used to this.” He grins. “This is pretty much status quo for Silver Springs.”
“It really is.” I grin as Ghost sends a gust of wind to swirl around my waist in an invisible hug.
“She’s right,” Mini adds, and I notice that her breathing slowly starts to slow.
“Is that a mouse on your shoulder?” Ember asks her, and then smiles. “It’s cute.”
“His name’s Agent Tiptoe.” Mini smiles.
“Are you sticking around?” I ask Ember with a pointed glance at her skates.
“Nah. I saw the lights on and decided to grab a coffee on my way to the rink. Everything there is already closed.”
Julian makes her a cappuccino and she waves, promising that we’ll do a girls night with Riley and Eirwen sometime soon.
After she’s gone—and Xavi, the last of the ice blocks to stay ice blocked, shifts back—we gather around the table with our drinks.
I’d like to say that everyone stays in human form, but Leith keeps crazy shifting, and I know he won’t stop until I get him naked later tonight. Ghost keeps teasing me with air, so when I randomly gasp or groan, no one else has any idea why. And Xavi ice blocks one more time, and none of us mind—except Amber, who instantly ice blocks, too. But like I told Ember earlier, this is the norm for Silver Springs, and I love every moment.
