“Stop, I have to send the final details to our manufacturer by the end of the day if we are going to keep our spring release date.” I quickly pulled away from Q’s grasp and spun around to face him, my butt leaning against the desk.

“Fine, I’m not gon’ try to fuck you. Can you at least take a break to eat?” Q bit into his bottom lip. “You been up since six and you haven’t eaten. It’s already one o’clock, and you love waiting until ya ass shaking and about to pass out before you take a break to eat,” he griped, standing from the chair and placing both hands on the outside of me.

God wasn’t playing fair when he crafted Q. Since we were young, he was fine as hell. As we got older, he grew into the type of handsome that belonged in magazines. His dark skin was smooth and blemish-free, and when his cheeks lifted into a smile, I could just melt into a puddle. Q was 6’ 2”, nearly a foot taller than my 5’ 4” frame, and that was evident when his slender frame stood from the chair and towered over me. His eyes never left mine as he pecked my lips and scooped me off my feet. Giggling, I wrapped my legs around Q’s waist and my arms around his neck while I peppered his face with kisses.

Q placed me on the kitchen island next to a black Yeti insulated bag. He pulled my phone out of his pocket, and I noticed the slight tremor in his hand. Placing my hand on top of his, I took the phone from his grasp and lifted his hand to kiss it. That was just my thing if it happened and we were in private. The brief moment passed, and I slipped my phone into my pocket.

Movement in the living room garnered my attention, and I had to do a double-take when I saw Xain’s marred face sitting on our living room sofa. When Mama Marissa told us that Vincent was leaving Q’s afterparty to go pick up Xain because he got into a car accident, I never thought the complete story would be that he got into a car accident because Khaleesi put stunned iguanas in his truck that woke up and whooped his ass.

Although I felt bad for Xain, I had to stifle my smirk because those iguanas put something on his ass in the worst way. Now that the wounds were scabbing, it actually looked worse than the day it happened. Plus, he was rocking a clear rigid shield over his left eye. I had to fight my urge to blurt out damnnnnnn. Every scar on his face looked painful.

“Bae, stop staring,” Q whispered.

I quickly diverted my eyes, not realizing I was staring at Xain’s mangled face.

“How is he going to secure you with one eye?” I mumbled, putting emphasis on the last two words.

“Man, stop,” he laughed and shook his head. “I love you, bae. I’m going to hit the studio after the meeting. If you want me to send Xain or Duke to scoop you, let me know,” he stated, then leaned in to peck my lips again.

“I love you too. I’m staying in tonight. You know I’m getting up for the farmers market in the morning,” I smiled, placing my hands on Q’s shoulders.

He leaned in to kiss me, and I slipped off the counter to wash my hands.

“Alright, bae. I’ll call you when I get out of these meetings,” Q notified me on his trek to the door.

“My phone is going to be off DND. I promise.”

“I know because I already took it off DND for you,” he tossed over his shoulder.

My eyes lingered on his strong back in the white tank top with his jeans sagging off his waist. Everything about Q was sexy to me. He grabbed a black shirt off the back of the sofa as he passed by and pulled it over his head. My stomach rumbled, and I peeled my eyes off my man, wondering what he brought me to eat. I unzipped the Yeti insulated bag and grinned when I scanned the contents.

“Q!” I shouted, stopping both men in their tracks towards the door. My outburst was sudden and loud, but I appreciated the food from my favorite vegan restaurant in Miami safely in the bag.

“What’s wrong?” He spun around.

“Nothing. Thank you, handsome.”

“Anything for you, beautiful.”

They continued towards the door, and Amill was standing there, hand raised to knock. One good look at Amill and I knew she was just getting in after a long night out. Her face was still covered in her makeup from the night before, and the little fuchsia dress wasn’t appropriate for anything other than a night out. Wherever she slept last night clearly didn’t include a bonnet because her hair was a mess on top of her head. Even in her disheveled state, she was still drop-dead gorgeous. Her natural beauty never faltered.

“GAHHHHHH DAMN!” She sputtered, her eyes examining Xain’s face. Her mouth dramatically slipped ajar and remained wide open as Xain mugged her and continued out of the door. Amill’s gaze followed Xain as he walked past, and she finally closed her mouth to offer Q a brief hug before shuffling inside.

“Xain got fucked uuuuuuuup!” Amill blurted. “Remind me to call Khaleesi the next time I need inspiration for some get back.”

“I know. He looks horrible,” I added, retrieving a fork to eat my food.

“Ugh, Q brought you food back from our favorite spot in Miami?” Amill pouted, slipping onto one of the stools on the opposite side of the kitchen island.

“He did. There is another one for you in there. You’re lucky you came back because I was going to eat both of them since you have been MIA all day.”

“Jameera, it’s only one o’clock. The day has barely started. I have only been up for what? Thirty minutes? As soon as I saw your text, I came over.”

Amill’s appearance was disheveled, hair pulled up into a messy bun that she probably only finger-combed, and her usually bright eyes were red and puffy, indicating she was running off little to no sleep.

“Well, you’re too late. Q helped me choose the color I was struggling with,” I expressed before shoveling another forkful of the lion’s mane mushroom strips into my mouth.

“I’m sorry. When did Q get home? I thought they weren’t coming home until Monday?”
