At that moment… yes.
“Fine,” Nic conceded, and Griffith moved fast.
His arms were around Nic, and his lips were being devoured before he could even take his next breath.
That’s what Griffith was good at.
Taking his breath away.
Their tongues dueled, and Nic lifted his hands to thread them through Griffith’s hair.
God, it had been so long.
And it was so different.
Where Wendy was soft and gentle, Griffith was hard and rough.
Sliding his hands over his shoulders, Nic squeezed the muscles there and lowered his hands to Grif’s arms.
This alpha could pick Nic up and make him feel light as a feather, even at six-four.
That was a distant memory, but apparently not too distant.
Grif dropped his hands lower, over Nic’s ass and to the backs of his thighs.
So lost in the kiss, Nic didn’t realize what he was doing until it was too late.
“Wait!” Nic broke the kiss with a gasp as he was lifted and deposited onto the flattened truck bed. It put him at the perfect height, and his thighs parted, making room for Griffith without Nic even having to think about it. Muscle memory and all that.
Griffith moved closer, framed Nic’s throat with his hands, and tilted his head up.
“Just while I’m here,” Nic whispered, interjecting the condition before he could forget. He didn’t think he could promise more than that. He wasn’t even sure how he got here.
Griffith’s gaze darkened, and the lines around his mouth tightened, but he nodded.
“Fine. If that’s all I get… I’ll take it.”
Nic didn’t even have time to part his lips for a response before Griffith lowered his head again.
Their lips crushed together, and Griffith devoured him, thrust his tongue between his lips and made love to him without ever taking their clothes off.
Nic’s breath, the few he allowed himself, clouded between them. He could feel Griffith’s heat all around him. From the palms on his throat to the chest pressed to his, to the hard length he felt rub against his own.
“God, Grif,” Nic groaned, and tightened his grip on those broad shoulders. “We can’t, not right now.”
Grif slid his lips down Nic’s throat and spoke against his skin. “Why not? Wendy’s busy.”
The alpha suddenly lifted his head, and the cold air chilled the spot where his lips had been on Nic’s skin. “She has two alphas trying to impress her right now. What do you get?”
His question went down like a glass of nails. But she was Wendy. She deserved to have two alphas who were good to her. A beta who looked out for her best interest.
“What do you deserve?” the alpha asked him.
Nic stared up at Griffith. His square jaw and thick brows and the shadow along his cheeks.
Those dark eyes were pools of unreadable emotion in the night.
“Wendy’s not taking advantage of me, if that’s what you’re thinking,” Nic argued.
