She was near begging when he finally smirked down at her.
“Sorry, I know we said no teasing.”
He leaned down and kissed her, his movements only faltering the slightest as his lips touched hers. That gentle kiss said everything they didn’t need to.
One of the hands that had been gripping her hip slid over her thigh until his thumb bumped her clit. A rush of air escaped Daria as she focused on all the sensations overwhelming her. The tight hold on her hip, the shocks of pleasure that zapped down her nerve endings, the fullness from Misery’s cock, the way his hips snapped into hers.
But it wasn’t until his gaze sucked her in, and she saw the depth of emotions in his eyes—along with the burning passion—that she shattered.
Curses and cries fell from her lips as Misery’s own rhythm faltered. He kept the pressure on her clit as he withdrew from her and thrust back inside only a few more times before he came too. The burst inside of her was like its own thrust and she clenched around him, again and again, until finally—they came to a breathless, crashing halt.
With a groan that reverberated against her chest, Misery rolled to the side and tugged her close. The cool air was quickly drying the sweat on their bodies, but Daria didn’t even care. She placed a kiss on Misery’s pec and released a slow breath.
“That was…”
“I know,” he finished for her without actually having to put it into words.
“Love you,” she stated simply, the words rolling off her tongue with ease.
“I love you too.”
Hiding her grin against his chest, Daria wondered just how loud they’d been, and her cheeks flamed at the thought of going back downstairs.
Can I just pretend I died again? That’ll win me like, a few hours at the least, right?
She laughed—and ignored the strange look Misery sent her.
Death by dick.
TRUTH
The bar patrons hopped and bopped around, drinking, laughing, talking, and listening to the music that played through the quiet bar. Truth, however, sat at a table near the back, closest to the bar and tucked into the corner. He stared down at the surface of his drink, a Long Island Iced Tea, and ignored the humans. He only had eyes for one person.
Daria flittered about, mixing drinks and making small talk with different customers, earning her tips. As sweet as she was, she was also far too intelligent to be there. Not that there was anything wrong with bartending, but Truth didn’t want her to eat through the money her mother had left, and the wage she made, even with tips, wasn’t enough to cover utilities and groceries. Hell, there were nine demons living in her house. Yeah, sure, Pain had his gig at the tattoo parlor, and even though he helped out when he could, it wasn’t enough to provide for all of them.
Pulling out his phone, Truth googled pastry shops and bakeries in the area, then sighed at the results. There wasn’t an abundance.
Glancing back up at Daria, he wished he knew of a way to help. PR was her calling, really. He’d been in her head for that interview, had heard and envisioned all the brilliant ideas she had. Would things ever calm down enough for her to pursue her dream? Or would they be chasing after Pandora forever?
Fuck, I hope not, he thought with a grimace.
The others were out stalking their perspective charges, the demons they’d tracked to their homes. So far, the reports had come back as boring, boring, and… boring. Not much for them to observe if they weren’t fucking doing anything.
He brought the glass to his lips and took a long drink, taking one last wistful glance at his phone and taking note of the address of one of the bakeries. It wasn’t too far from the house, or from the bar for that matter. But bakers kept very different hours than bartenders. When Daria would be coming home, he’d just be leaving for the morning to prep doughs and pastries.
“Are you sure that’s sweet enough for you?” Daria inquired, appearing from fucking nowhere and making him choke on his drink. He coughed to clear his airway and grinned up at her despite his heavy thoughts.
“You scared the shit out of me,” he admitted with a laugh.
Daria was so damned pretty, with her bright smile and the freckles dusted across her nose like little stars. Just seeing her kind of made all his worries fall to the wayside.
“I know the recipe for a jolly rancher drink if that’s more to your taste,” she offered.
Truth shrugged and tipped his glass at her before taking another sip. “I don’t know. This is the drink that makes people lose their minds. Their inhibitions fall away, and the truth comes out.”
Daria grinned, and Truth wanted to pat himself on the fucking back for making such a magical occurrence happen.
“You would be correct. I’ve seen plenty of it.”
