“My house?” I used the butt of the gun to scratch the side of my head. “The house that I’m in now, where my mom and I lay our heads at?” My voice elevated.
“Yeah—”
“Well.” I chuckled dryly feeling my temperature rise. “That’s not the holiday spirit now is it?” I gritted out.
I swung my legs off the side of the bed. This wasn’t a social visit; this was a statement and a threat that Maniac was trying to make. Either way, this nigga had himself fucked up making his presence felt at my place of residence.
“How many? And what the fuck is currently going on out there?”
“Eight trucks, Tabari is waiting for you to make the next call on what to do. I know you have his daughter willingly…any other time he would—”
“Be fucking dead…” I bit my bottom lip. “Any other time.” My eyes flicked over to Amaris’s backside. “A nigga that makes his way to where I rest… no matter who the fuck their daughter is and who her pussy now belongs to will be fuckin’ dead… you don’t wait for an answered call next time.”
Amaris turned to face me just as I stood. The playful expression on her face moments ago was completely gone. Her arched brows furrowed as she dropped her towel. I didn’t know if she was in on her dad having my house surrounded or if she was trying to ease the anger that she felt radiating off of me. Either way, it didn’t matter in the moment. My mother was supposed to be secured, resting her head in my home.
“What’s wrong?” she asked cautiously.
“Keep them surrounded, I’ll be out in a few.” I ended the call and tossed my phone on the bed.
“You gon’ tell me what’s going on?” Amaris pressed.
“Your father is outside, daddy’s girl.” My jaw clenched. “Get dressed and stay here,” I demanded, walking toward my walk-in closet.
“He here by himself?” I felt her close behind me.
“No, he’s here with his men… too many of them.” I threw on a black suit jacket then snatched up some black dress pants to put on next.
“It seems like your father wants to die today… that really sucks Breasturant because I feel myself falling for you… I like you being here…” my words trailed off as I shook my head disappointed.
“I guess that shit gone be short-lived because he seems to not know the kind of nigga he fucking with.” My temples throbbed with rage.
“Wait.” Her soft fingertips touched my shoulder.
“I haven’t really been answering his calls like that, Ro he—”
“CAME TO MY FUCKIN’ HOUSE!” I roared, causing her to stumble backward .
“A house—” I pinched the bridge of my nose. “A home,” I corrected. “That no one except you, my brother, my mother, and my security detail know the address to.” My jaw clenched tight.
“I wouldn’t set you up, Royal.” She sniffled.
For a second my rage simmered seeing her eyes gloss over with tears.
“My dad loves me with everything in him; he would die for me.” Tears rolled down her round cheeks. “He’s just a concerned father… He knows who you are and how dangerous the Bonetti’s are.”
“I understand… which is why he’s still breathing at the moment. Stay put.” I buttoned my pants and walked away from her, hoping she fucking listened.
I gripped my gun tighter, ready for whatever soon as I got outside. I never had to consider the feelings of another when it came time to kill someone except my mom with that bitch ass nigga Ronald.
“Royal, please—”
I whipped around so fast to face her when I reached my bedroom door, I almost caught a crook in my neck.
“Please?” I jerked my neck back, cocking my head to the side.
“Please what?” I tugged at the bottom of my beard.
“It’s too fuckin’ early in what we got going for your pops to be acting out like this… I don’t give a fuck about making that nigga like me either. This is shit you should have considered before going out on a date with me.” I waved my gun in front of me.
